What about using "Electroless Nickle" as a finish...
Any one done it?
Would it hold up on a Beadblasted Carbon steel blade?

I have offered to EN plate a knife for a maker, but no one has taken me up on the offer, so I'll make the offer again:

Entire knife should be 9" or less, made of carbon steel, polished the way you want it to look. Blade only- install handles after the plating is done. You pay the postage both ways.
The knife is to be USED, TESTED, AND THE RESULTS POSTED HERE.

Blades have been nickeled for quite some time, and they hold up well. Electroless nickel should work even better. It certainly will hold up better than any paint or bluing process.

you know I was wondering about this my self, but was also thinking about nickel-teflon combined with a highly polished pivot for folders. Bill, I may take you up on this offer, I have some that may look good that way.

i still remember you making me that offer bill. i'm going to take you up on it when i get a knife ground that i think would be a good candidate :D.

Xander, I'd give it a shot. We used nickle teflon for some metal to metal surfaces to good effect.

Yeah I used it quite a bit when I worked over the Altamont in the MEMS field, but it was on a micro scale. It would be interesting to make a slim folder sans pivot washers/bearings.
