All my knives are users. No fancy safe queens here. If I bought a $500 folder, I'd be abusing the hell out of it.

Chopper - KA-BAR Zombie Chopstick
Camp Knife - Mora Companion
Neck Knife - Selby Knives Little Folsom
EDC Fixed - Shannon Carter Urge
EDC Folder - Benchmade Griptilian
EDC Slipjoint - Alox SAK Cadet

What am I missing? Let's cap my budget at $400 and see what you guys come up with.

I'd like a nice traditional eventually, maybe a large fixed camp knife.
I'd like to get a Strider or Medford one day, but it's out of the budget for now.

Edit - I've found what I'm missing, thanks to everyone's help :D

What's missing, that I want:
Large Camp Knife
Kitchen Knife
Gentleman's Knife
Folding Saw

What's missing, that I don't want:
Multi-Tool
Axe/Hatchet

Food knives.

Kitchen knife (santoku or chef knife)
Bread knife
Paring knife
Trail food prep knife
Apple/potato peeler
Steak knives

Multitool?

A SAK is about as much of a multitool as I'm willing to bother with.

Yes, these are two that I definitely need.

INFI and yes, a Strider.

I had a Custom Shop Ratmandu for a short while, never used it, and sold it. Then I saw the INFI Ratmandu's

I'd say a mid-tech modern folder or custom slipjoint would make a nice addition.

At $400 many Strider knives are within budget, especially on the exchange here. Otherwise at $400 it seems odd to price them out with most models being under $500. This is coming from someone who is not a Strider fan fwiw.

I'm also going to recommend the Sebenza, just to get that out of the way. Can't have a $400 budget recommendation thread without that. Although, you might actually really like the Umnumzaan.

You're also pretty close to Hinderer territory which I think is worth checking out. For a long time they were extremely difficult to find for under $800 due to supply/demand. I'm tempted to pick one up just in case those dark days come back!

I find there to be a dearth of good options around the $400 mark for modern-style folders. Lots of good options in the <$300 range, then many more around $500, but not so many in between.

There are lots of great custom slipjoint options around that price though! Check out Menefee, Davison, Ohta and many more! There really is something special about a handmade slipjoing knife that is hard to describe and impossible to understand without owning one.

Since there are so many incredible fixed blade options I'll only suggest some of the more popular ones around here: Busse, Fiddleback, DFK, BaCustom, Survive!

I really like hand forged stuff so I'll also throw in Murray Carter and Soshui Takeda as well. DEFINITELY check these guys out if you're looking at kitchen knives. Richmond is another kitchen knife maker I highly recommend, especially his AEB-L knifes and his budget, Artifex line.

A nice production slip joint. Maybe a Case Trapper, Peanut or a Stockman. A must have - Buck 110.

For your large fixed camp knife, I'd get a 16" Himalayan Imports M-43. Hell, with your budget, you could get 2 of 'em, and have enough money left over to pick up one of their Itty Bitty Bawanna Bowies.

I think if what you are doing works, no need to change it. Only hole I see is one you mention in a larger and more robust camp knife. Could be anything really. I have all sorts of small, medium, or large camp knives. Everything from a brkt bravo 1 or aurras to an Esee 6 to a bravo 2 or a tglb.

Get a GEC #77, #15, #78 etc etc. All great, classic, sturdy, low profile knives at under $100.

The new ZT Limited Edition coming out on April 2nd, the 0392BWBRZ:

I managed to snag the 0392 and it's an amazing blade, once you handle one, your life will change. I believe that it is a better blade than the Eklipse in several ways.

However, by the looks of your collection, other than the SAK, you don't seem to have a classy "Sunday knife". Perhaps a Chris Reeve Mnandi? Snake wood or Ebony?

And if you like razor sharp blades, I suggest you snag an Opinel No.8 or 9 (carbon), great knives for close to ten bucks; they sharpen up super easy and to a scary sharp edge. Perfect for kitchen duty, camp food prep, shaving :P, etc.

Oh, and if you are looking for an awesome camp knife, for batoning or whatever, the Ontario RTAK-II in 1095 is an amazing blade. Decent price too, usually under $100.

How about a slightly different path.... you have a Grip, and I'll presume you like it, why not customize it? There are some incredible custom scales and clips made my members here. If you'd like to keep the Grip as is, you could get another to customize, or a mini, or Ritter, etc. There are tons of ideas in the various customized knives threads.

A smaller gentlemanly knife. Mnandi or small Sebenza with an inlay would round out your collection perfectly.

Lots of very interesting suggestions here!

I never thought of that! I love my Griptilian. One in S30V would be nice and some micarta scales would be awesome.

Santoku: Japanese kitchen wife knife. I just don't get why this shape is so popular? Gyoto is where it's at if you are a male.

OP, missing in your collection is a gentlemans folder.
