I got a code 4 a few years back from massdrop for a ridiculous low price.
I have great luck with cts xhp so I was excited but when I received it It seemed slippery so I threw it in a drawer. I read a few times about grip tape but never took the time, too many knives sitting in my edc box to mess with around wih a lowly cold steel.
Anyway, 2 weeks ago I came across some floor tread tape and slapped some on the code 4, quick and dirty.
I have been carrying it pretty much non stop and it has worked really well for me, thin but grippy, cuts well, and I can get the blade pretty darn sharp quickly.
It is the only cold steel I currently own and I am quite happy with it, and all it took was a little bit of grip...

I might try this. I also got my code 4 on md for a steal, it really was an incredible deal. I really like the knife and the xhp is awesome; my only gripe is the handle is too narrow for any sort of prolonged use. I’ve been giving serious thought to making scales for it, but I need to figure out a feasible way to secure them. Maybe a few layers of grip tape on either side will suffice.

Yup, the grip tape really did change Code 4 and made it much much better. To me, it's the extra thickness they added to the knife, even tho it's 1mm in total. Here's mine:

Nice job with cutting out and applying the grip tape. I just applied a straight strip of tape on each handle. Doesn t look nearly as nice but improved the grip 100%.
