What angle to sharpen S30V blade with Lansky 20 or 25 deg

I have a Blade-tech Rijbak. The blade is a thick S30V spear point. My Lansky kit recommends 25 deg for a hunting knife. 20 deg for kitchen and high end steel and 17 deg for a razor. The blade is at 25 deg now but I want maximum cutting power.

If I go down to 20 deg will it weaken the blade?
Does anyone sharpen at 17 deg?
What do you recommend?

I sharpened my BM 710 in D2 on the 17 deg setting and have had no problems. I've also found the angle settings are a little higher than they turn out to be on most knives.

Try using 20 with a 25 micro bevel. If you don't feel it is sharp enough try 17 with a 20 micro. If you don't like using a micro bevel then just go with a 20 or lower. I use between 15 and 18 on all my knives except for the large thick choppers or utility blades. You could also use a cheaper blade to practice on to see what effects different bevels will have on different steels.
