Ka-Bar/Dozier Bobcat... first off i want to say that when
i was looking for a good folder(that could survive some
light to medium batonning) i was told that they werent supposed to be capable of that, well...

3in tree batonned with a rotten stake, one of arround ten OA, absolutely 0 blade play.
maybe im just lucky but i believe that if i buy a knife its not something i should have to baby or fear breaking
if i buy a knife you can garuntee i will do this to it.

Most well made folders will handle heavy abuse but over time will develope problems in the lock area. Your folder may not have blade play now but if you keep doing this it will. All mechanical things will fail.

Agreed. Personally, I don't subject folders to that kind of thing. If I did, Ii certainly wouldn't do it with the blade locked. Leave it 90% open to reduce stress on the pivot/locking mechanism. Regardless, if the blade itself held up, I agree that's not too much to ask. Enjoy!
 
All folders are, essentially, broken knives, hopefully with a mechanism that locks them open, so they can pretend to be weak non-folding knives.
