Hi all, as you can probably tell I am a newcomer to knives and want to start a collection of balisongs and "flick" knives. However I can not seem to find any pictures or information regarding "flick" knives. I'm not sure what their technical name is but the knives I am looking for are those that release a blade in a vertical motion (not a swing motion) on the press of a button. The same button should then retract the blade. Can someone please point me in the correct direction. Also are these knives any good.

Thanks

Well, they are called Automatics. The first thing that you should be aware of is that in london, I'm 99% sure they are illegal. Sorry to bring you hopes crashing down. So a balisongs, and most other knives (from what i've heard anyway).

You want a Double action automatic. I don't know much about Autos (i can't get them either). I know Microtech ( www.microtechknives.com ) have some nice ones though. If you wait a little longer, you'll get plenty of good info on them.

Welcome to the forums, Simon. This place has a forum dedicated to Automatics with some very knowledgable folks hanging around that can probably give you all the info you need. Also, there's a forum for Balisongs you should check out.

James is right Simon, autos are illegal here in the UK. Probably no problem buying one in from the US but if customs get hold of it you'll never see it!

I think that what you are referring to is an auto that opens out the front. I thought that the police had already made England safe from criminals. Maybe they missed a few?
