I have found that what is important to me in and edc is lightweight and a slim figure. Not so much the blade being thin as the handle.

I noticed the manix 2 seems to be thin and has a good deep carry clip (also a big plus). And I hear the military is thin but it's hard to get a good idea when you don't have it in front of you.

A lot of you have handle many of the models and I'm hoping to get some good advice.

Thanks in advance.

If you consider the Manix 2, which is one of Spyderco's thickest and heaviest (154 grams) knives, to be thin, then there's nothing in the entire lineup, with the possible exception of the Chinook 3, which is slightly thicker and 10 grams heavier, that you'd find too thick.

In a decent size folder, the CF version of Stretch II, which is about half the thickness of the Manix 2, a bit over 2/3rds the weight (110 grams), and gives you a bit more blade, would be the thinnest. The Salt I and Tasman Salt are a bit smaller, but quite a bit lighter (57 grams for the Salt I), and the same thickness as the CF Stretch II.

The military is thin for is size ( 4" blade). It measures about 7/16" in thickness. My older model shows 4.15 oz on the scale. The newer ones with dual liners may come in a little heavier.

Paul's right about the CF Stretch,a good size knife but very thin, it's a keeper for sure.
If your looking for a really lightweight 3" the Centofante is very thin and slices
atoms for lunch. :p

When I read the thread title, the (disco'd) Calypso Jr. came to my mind.

One of the lightest (unlinered FRN) and sharpest (needle point, flat grind) knives I own.

They do show up occasionally on the bay, here or @ knife-bst.com.

A UKPK could fit the bill, too.

If you want lots of blade in a thin package, the Rock Lobster fits that. The Military is very light, I wouldn't call it "thin".

See this is why I ask. I saw a thread with some original manix and the manix 2 and they made the manix 2 look thin. It's easy to get faked out online. Thanks for the suggestions. Seems the stretch keeps coming up when I describe what I'm looking for. I may need to check it out.

So the CF streach is the thinnest? Not the frn?

the rookie, the harpy w/ carbon fiber, delica carbon fiber. i remember the police in SS was also very thin.

The FRN Salt knives are very thin and light, the FRN Ladybug is also thin and light, but lacks a clip.

The Military is thin and light considering it's size. 4" blade with a huge handle all at 4oz.

2nd vote for the Salt, amazingly thin, light, and killer steel

I carry my EDC in my back pocket with no clip. the salt 1, Dragonfly or the Delica 3.

The spin looks cool but I probably don't want less than a 3" blade.

The salt looks like a good contender. Is that a plastic clip on the salt?
That would be awesome for me . I work around cars and am currently using a kershaw but wear it in a pouch because clips will scratch the he'll out of a car.

The tip on the salt is a little weird.

It's a titanium clip on the salt folders.

I think the tip drops like that for a similar purpose as the dropped tip on the rescues--so that you can cut things without puncturing with the tip (like rope wrapped around your dive suit).
