I'm new to Spyderco knives. I own a few that I begun use. I am begining to love them. And I want purchase a few really, really nice desirable ones (Not to use) but to start a small collection.

I searched this forum and only got a few general answers.

Are the knifes from the "collector's club" with serial#'s any more desirable than the production ones?

I like the:
1. aluminum-handled Police version
2. Bob Lum C65 Chinese folder -green
3. Bob Lum C46 folder
4. JD Smith C58BMS
5. 67 R ---coolest

What do other people really like and why? Thanks!

Are you asking fromn a collector's viewpoint? From a user viewpoint, I would say that the question of "most desireable" is much to subjective to answer.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.

Here's a few that I think are great additions to anyone's Spyderco collection (mainly because of the quality materials and limited production).

The original jigged-bone Jess Horn (the first "no-hole" Spyderco)
Laguiole (the other "no-hole" Spyderco)
The Carbon Fiber handled models (Delica, Police, Civilian, Cricket, etc,)
The Forum Models (particularly the Military and blue G-10 Native)
The Micarta Jess Horns
Gunmetal blue Lum Chinese
Anniversary Delica

I agree with you on the C46 Lum Tanto Folder but I think the titanium-handled version is particularly desireable.

I'm sure others will have many more to add to the list!

Oh yeah, sorry.

I ment from a collector's viewpoint.

I'm thinking I would choose a few of the ones "I like" that are considered desirable & maybe rare from a colloector's veiwpoint. These would be for show. thanks.

there are so many of them...
old models, sprint runs, anniversary editions, custom collaborations and so on...

welcome to your new addiction! :)

Yeah, I know they are so many....but I asking what the Most desirable ones are in your opinion...yes, its a subjective question. Knifes collecting is subjective. Why else would people pay $$$ for older Case XX. They were not the best made or nicest looking knifes, but there's much more to it....

4 s ter - Thanks for your input!! Very helpful. I plan on buying a Laguiole...very nice, imo. And for sure, it will always be desirable since the Spyderco trademark "hole" is absent.

Also, I saw a Anniversary Delica with jigged-bone handle with damascus bolsters....and its awesome. thats got to be one of nicest spydercos...
I really thought the price was decent too. I'm holding off on that one until I learn more about spyderco knives.

So what other "must haves" do people REALLY LIKE?

IMHO the most desirable are: (in no particular order)

-25th anniversary Delica
-Worker Evo Set
-C22 Walker Swissmade CF/Ti
-the first batch of Police known as PIG (Pride Integrity Guts engraved on the blade)
-C67 "R"
-Ti Herbst
-Trakk'r proto

then

-any PE Cvilian
-Bob Terzuola collaboration C19 PE alu handles, C15 PE alu handles
-Wegner Mouse
-Spyderkeys
-Probe

and that's just the Spydercos out of the factory...

then you got the "Blanchards", custom jobs...

This is amazing! I just lost a reputation point for my post above. I guess there's just no pleasing some people - don't know who since the individual didn't identify himself. It's not that I care about the points - but I sure can't tell what was "disagreeable" with the content of this one

high on my list now is the original CF/Ti Walker

the one below is not mine but I borrowed it from a nearby living spyderco collector

forgot the original C27 Jess Horn in my list of rare... (just won it this morning ;) )

WOW Good catch  ! If I may ask - where? I don't remember seeing it on Ebay or anything...

Anyone have shots of the micarta Goddard? For me, that model is the most "shame-it-was-discontinued" spydie. Also,is there a such thing as a carbon fiber Goddard? Right now I have the FRN version, and lament that it's not CF or Micarta. I wonder if anyone else thinks the Goddard blade is one of the most aesthetic spydies ever.

From a general accumulator/ collector point the older collaboration models always catch my eye. The really rare models are a bit to expensive for my taste. Not that I won't buy two if I ever find them for a reasonable price of course.

Whats the difference between a prod. C46P & a SP46P. What's SP give you?

Also whats a CX025?? Is that an experimental Frank Centofante? Whats difference than the prod. model?

Thanks for everyones input!!!

btw, I found a CX11P I might buy...is $175 too much?
