Hey all, just curious what the options are for manix 2? Does spyderco make one with g10 and cts-bd1? What steel options are there other than, s30v, s110v and ctsbd1? Is the difference between the light weight much different than the standard? Any advice is wellcome. I'm pretty sure that it will be my next knife and I just want to know my options. I know there have been a few sprint runs that I may not be familiar with.

Light weight is much lighter than the standard. Standard with s30v is about 5 oz while the lightweight is 2.8. S100v blurple has skeletonized liners and is about 4.1 oz. G10 doesn't come in bd1 steel. They have made a good number of sprint runs with various steels but i'm not familiar enough to be able to name them all. You will pay a substantial amount more to get a sprint run on the secondary market. I have a g10 s110v and a lightweight s110v and love them both. The lightweight is very substantial for a linerless knife. I find myself carrying it more due to the weight. However the s110v g10 with the milled liners is not heavy at barely over 4 ounces. its barely heavier than a pm2. I would recommend going with either the lightweight in s110v or the g10 s110v. lightweight can be found most places for 113 while the g10 is 137. Both are great deals compared to other brands and materials and s110v stays sharp forever and is extremely corrosion resistant. You wont be disappointed. Manix 2 is my favorite knife. On second thought you should get the g10 and lightweight versions and see which one you like best. My guess is you will keep both but you could always sell the one you didn't at a minimal amount less. You really need to handle each one to know which one you will gravitate towards.

LW comes in a few flavors like BD1 (black or blue scales) and S110V (dark blue scales) for regular production and there is a Maxamet one coming soon. There is also currently an exclusive available through Knifecenter in XHP (brown scales) which I really want to pick up.

The G10 Manix is offered currently in S30V (black scales) and in S110V (blurple scales). To me the weight difference is minor but that is subjective. There have been many many sprints of the Manix2 G10 and for a list of them I would go to the Spydiewiki. It should have them all listed in order. The older ones are hard to come by but I still see the Cruwear one come up for sale for reasonable prices.

I am not a Manix fan but I do own the Cruwear version and I want the LW XHP version. I already have enough S110V so they don't appeal to me that much. If you like high carbide steels then you may like the S110V versions. My suggestion is to buy the XHP exclusive or hunt down a Cruwear sprint. They are two of my favorite steels.

Friend of mine has a LW BD-1. It really is a great EDC folder, though it's not for me. Just doesn't have feeling of utter solidity in hand that a G10 Manix has.

My favorite Manix is definitely the Manix 2 XL. YMMV.

I've had three and sold 2, I still have the LW S110V and it's one of my favorites. If I was to get another G10 it would be with milled liners for weight, between the S30V G10 and the LW I just wouldn't carry the heavier G10. The LW is a great platform and you'll have a few options, BD1, S110V, XHP, Maxamet. The S110V or the exclusive XHP would be good choices.

From what I've owned I like the g10 with skeletonized liners the best. Lightweight seemed too blocky for me. And the non skeletonized like a pocket hog. My Cruwear Manix gets a ton of pocket time and is overall one of my all time favorites

Ive had the xl, the s30v, 110lw, I kept the bd1, just love it. For a regular around the house knife the bd1 acts like 440c and is a very easy to maintain steel.

The 110 version was a little too cerebral for me in terms of trying to maintain shaving sharp.

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Didn't realize there were this many options.

Go for s110v imo it's great steel and lighter than the s30v which is very heavy and pulls down on your pocket.

Hey mec,
My standard reply for anyone buying Spyderco is do you have a chance to get them in hand.

Spyderco for me is the one brand where getting the knife in hand makes all the difference even if I dont like the lock or think that that the knife is ugly etc...
