I'm looking for a good flipper that can open with ease. Any suggestions? I hear IKBS flippers are the best.

The CRKT ripple is a very nice flipper for the money. The best flipper I have ever handled/owned though is the Kershaw TiLT which has Kershaw's version of a ball bearing pivot.

The Todd Begg Gent's Glimpse is my favorite custom IKBS flipper.

The ultra thin and lightweight CRKT Ken Onion-designed Eros is an excellent production IKBS ti framelock. I like it so much that it kicked a three-times-more-expensive small Sebenza out of my pocket for regular EDC.

Try to find a Tim Galyean, they are so scary smooth and fast. I have a large JYD and its very fine and as smooth as it gets.

I like CRKT Ripple 1 and I have added this knife to my list named "Wanted" right now. What is its ergonomy like ?

I have the Wal-Mart Ripple (K415KXP), and love it. "Cheaper" (literally and figuratively - cheaper but still good steel, liner lock instead of frame lock, and aluminum instead of steel frame) than the "real" Ripple, but definitely worth the price - $29.97 at most Wal-Marts. I also have the "real" Ripple on order, and can't wait, knowing how much I like the "cheapo" version. There is also a slightly smaller Ripple 2.

Excellent ergonomics, but if you don't care for 'gentlemanly' knives, the Ripple probably wouldn't be a good choice. Some might say that the Ripple feels too delicate, too thin, but I think it's well-built and solid for its role as a light duty slicer. Mine came razor sharp from the factory; the Acuto+ steel is quite good, imo.

I'd be interested in hearing a comparison of the two... please post your impressions!

I have an Eros and a Ripple 2. The Eros is incredibly light (1.3 ounces) with a 3" blade and a Ti framelock. While it doesn't feel heavy duty, it is a razor slicer, is very comfortable to carry, and has a full four finger handle. The 3d machined Ti gives great grip, and looks awesome.

I do like the blade shape on the Ripple a little better, but the SS feels heavy compared to the Eros, and the fit and finish was a little worse. My ripple has a weird effect where it has up and down play when folded, ( the blade moves up and down in the handle, like the hole for the detent was too big, but it doesn't come out), but it locks up really well when open. Still, for the price the Ripple is awesome.

I got my Eros for $115, but it is really hard to find for less than $150 usually. I got my ripple for $31 off of ebay (its the stainless steel framelock version too), so the flaw doesn't bother me at that price.

I have a WalMart Ripple that I bought for $29. I got it just to have a knife with IKBS and it turns out it's quite well made and designed for the money. Very good detent and the blade flips out like lightning. No blade play, good ergos, solid feel.

I am utterly disappointed with the "real" Ripple, the K405KXP. Way too many sharp edges, and obviously I'm not complaining about the blade, LOL!

The handle is quite uncomfortable, especially if you don't limp-grimp it. It's much thinner than the alumimum-framed, linerlock K415KXP. Of particular trouble is the opposite side of the index finger groove from the lockbar. It's comes to a pointed edge, and bites in when you hold it firmly. That could easily have been fixed in production, either by not grinding out so much metal, or smoothing it down. The jimping on the flipper is perfect to debride your skin, as well - way too sharp for what's needed.

Very, very surprisingly, I must say I prefer the "cheapo" version of the Ripple, the K415KXP. It's been known as the "Wal-Mart" version, but now CRKT is selling it on their site, so it's no longer exclusive (it appears it's going to go mass distribution, as well). Sure, the blade material is "lesser," but I really can't see it being less capable for proper usage. The additional thickness and less sharp edges make for a substantially more comfortable grip, and that really makes all the difference in the world regardless of blade steel.

For anyone considering a Ripple, I urge you, I implore you, try it before you buy, hold it in your hand, and then decide. If possible, try the "real" Ripple and the aluminum-handled, linerlock version at the same time.

I'm sorry to say, mine is now going back. I can't justify keeping it for the price (if it were half the price, I'd probably play with my Dremel on it).

Keep in mind that some Kershaw/ZT's are utilizing Kershaw's new KVT system too.

The 0560 and 0561 are due to use that system and in the Uber Price range, I believe the 0777 is too

Get Alan Davis to make you a flipper the way you want it done. He can do any style and any blade steel you want and his bearing system is as smooth as it gets! I promise you wont stop flipping it because it is SO SMOOTH! Good Luck! Kevin :thumbup::thumbup::D
