Hey all,

I'd like to get some suggestions on larger 2 and 3 blade pocket knives. I like the Trapper, Hunter Trapper and Stockman styles. I also like a Congress, but it would be kinda tough to get big blades in that style.

I am talking about having a main blade of 3 inches or more. Vintage or new, doesn't matter as long as it's affordable.

What would you suggest other than Case? I've looked at them already and they are my favorite. I like to check out some other makers to see what they have available.

Thanks for the time and help.

I would suggest you consider the Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) Missouri Trapper (#42) or the larger #23 pattern. Both of these are Trapper patterns with two blades with the #42 being 4.25" closed (about 3.25" blade) and the #23 being 4.5" closed (3.5" blade). Both are excellent knives. I carry a #42. Took me a while to decide on the size I prefer, but it's the #42, but have both and the next size Trapper smaller.

GEC knives are quite popular on the Traditional Forum. Take a run over there and check out the many threads. I think you'll find them to be of higher overall quality relative to the Case line, but still below the customs. There are dealer members, but you can also find a list of dealers at the GEC website. These are the only dealers that sell them.

These knives are 100% made in the USA. They cost more than both Case, or the AG Russell imported knives that you focus on in your other thread.

Queen makes the Mountain Man which is also a very good knife in D2 steel. Another USA made knife.

Buck makes their classic 110 folding hunter which set the standard years ago. Another good one.
