what are some numbers I need to call to get me off telemarketers' lists?

Call your phone company operator for information.

There is a number in front of phone book for you to be placed on the National do not call list, or fill out the form online, (google it) but that excludes Charities, any and all businesses that you have EVER done business with. When picking up the receiver, and you do not hear a person but know it is waiting on you to say something, start hitting the pound key and keep hitting it until the phone disconnects, this tells the calling computer that your number is a bad one. These lists are shared by a lot of companies and charities. It will not take too long for your bad number to make it into their databases and you will not be called again by them.
