i carry a few small gold coins in my Altoids tin and 2 actual Altoids mints wrapped in plastic, you never know when minty breath will be a necessity. ;)

How about you guys ?

Be safe out there.

Not to be obscene but I carry a handful of sanitary napkins, the reason is that they are sterile, absorb a lot of blood for their size and most have adhesive tabs on them, so they can stay put on a wound till you can wrap them with a bandage. An old trick I learned from an EMT course years ago.

I don't screw around about procuring food. . .

About the sanitary napkins:

People still carry them in alot of first aid kits nothing obscene about it, its what works.

Im going to take this to mean our full bug out bag kits

I have a much more extensive first aid kit than most

SOF-T's
Lactated Ringers with sharps
Combat Guaze impregnated with Quick Clot
Sam Splint
Israeli Field Dressings
Acherman chest seal's
Tensions Pneumothorax Decompression Needle's

I carry a Cat-T and combat gauze in my edc packs. If i'm using any of that stuff your having the worst (and likely last) day of your life

I also have some weird surgical stuff from the civil war lying around here somewhere but thats wherever my Pole-less liter is

I carry a few personal trinkets as well as laminated photos of me and my fiance A few beads and morale patches but mainly my knives and guns are my morale.

Edwood i may steal your Gold coin idea, pretty good one since gold doesnt loose its value almost no matter what

Pantyhose.

They work great for filtering water, are very strong and can hold an amazing amount of weight if needed to carry items, and weigh almost nothing. Plus they make my legs look damn sexy........ ;)

Tampons.

They're very absorbent, and come in handy for the lass's. :)

I have said this before but I carry a military body bag. Just in case I really get lost and don't make it out, need a bivy type shelter, can be used as a litter for someone else.

Listerine. Its one of the odd things. As another noted-never know when you will need minty breath- but seriously I have it in there as a backup antiseptic for wounds if you had to, it contains a lot of alcohol- so there are many many usages one could use listerine for-alcoholics are know to down a whole bottle for a buzz. Not sure I could stomach that- and I like the good stuff anyway.

Listerine, especially the original type yellow death flavor, is not strange to have in a kit at all. It was named after the first Surgeon (A Brit named Joseph Lister) who thought the idea of sterilizing surgical instruments was a good thing. :D

He didn't invent Listerine, however. It was just named after him.

I have never tried to burn any of the original stuff, if you can actually light it, well...hey! One more thing it can help do, start a fire.

Dryer lint, catches a spark from a firesteel pretty good.

I had my Blackhawk kalista with me today. I was out at my family’s ranch, and cut the hell out of my finger. I was preparing lunch.:o SAS Altoids tin to the rescue.

That's the funniest thing I've seen around here in a while...a survivalist actually carrying Altoids in an Altoids tin! Don't you realize someone probably makes a titanium cylinder to carry those things?
Leave the Altoids tin for serious gear :)

I carry finger nail clippers. I don't think I've ever seen anyone include those before...
