I like to look through Gilmers wood selection but I am currious if any one knows of more wood sites.
THanks for the help.

Have you checked Alpha Knife Supply?

Decent folks.

Luckly Gilmer is not far from me. Bad thing is when I go there they get alot more money than what I'm planning to spend. I just don't think you could find a place that offer's anywhere the selection they have and I find there prices are good but its still spendy.

Does alpha sell large boards? I'll have to see what old Chuck has after blade if I need anything.
Raymond, what do you think about Camphor Burl

One of the times I went shopping there camphor burl did catch my eye. I'm not 100% sure and this was a few years back that I asked Jim who manages the place about the camphor burl. He said it has a chemical in it that will cause steel to rust. I may have gotten it mixed up with something else but I'd check to make sure before I purchased it.

for Maple /Buckeye /Dyed /Amboina/Some redwood Burl / Some Desert ironwood check out "Uncle Frank " at http://www.jakeknife.com
this guy goes to great length to hand select each real burl ,not just a swirl here and there , cut's the wood up for the best pattern ,flat sands them in great scale sizes . he goes to Major trouble for other "Makers " to get quality wood. ive Never seen anything as nice as 90% of his wood.
no im not really trying to sell this place or anything but Please Look for yourself then you decide if im full of it .

I get all my crazy ironwood from www.arizonaironwood.com

Gotta be quick when they update....you can very rarely even grab some x-grade scales and blocks. Be prepared to pay for the quality, though....he does however have bulk ordering of high contrast ironwood, just not the exhibition grade burls...

Brian,
There is a company on e-bay called staburl. Very nice woods @ very reasonable prices. All the woods I have purchased from them have been perfectly straight, perfectly flat, and beautiful. I won't order from anyone else again. Mostly maple burl, box elder burl, and buckeye burls. Lots of dyed stuff. Dyed maple burl for $13 a set. Hard to beat that.

I've been buying a fair amount of stabilized wood from a one-man
operation located in southern Oregon. The owner is Ken Bloom
and he's great to work with and his prices are fantastic. I've bought
alot of curly, quilted and burl maple, as well as some really nice
redwood burl. California buckeye and some other stuff too.

His number is 541-839-6400. If you call tell him I told you
to call.

Prompt with deliveries too.

Hope this helps.

I found nice stuff on Ebay.
Riveredge exotics is one of the online shops I ordered.
Just explain what you want and what you want to use it for. Most sellers have way more suplies then they show on the site.
