What Are The Benefits Of Damascus Blades ?

Aside from looking unique and cool , what are the benefits of having a knife with a Damascus blade ? Is it stronger , tougher or hold an edge better than a normal blade ?

Nope, nope, and nope to my knowledge. It does of course depend on what steels you choose to make your Damascus with, but typical examples are not made with anything special. Your steels have to be compatible, and that is probably the biggest thing to consider when choosing the steels, not necessarily exceptional characteristics in performance.

The modern damascus, or 'pattern welded steel', mainly just looks cool.
