What are the chances that we will see S30V in production knives?

I am just wondering what are the chances that we will see S30V in production knives? I hear that it's really tough and hard to grind, do you think that production companies will use it in knives? Or will it be similar to CPM420V (S90V) and be virtually nonexistent (except for maybe a few small runs) by production Companies? I know that Chris Reeve Knives are using it, I'm wondering if other companies will join? Anyone know?

Thanks,

I can't say for sure, but my bet would be, yes. The knife industry looks at what is hot. S30V is going to be very hot. You will likely see this steel being used on special edition and first run knives from a few makers in the not to distant future. I would think that companies like William Henry might take a look at this steel. I hope that it becomes very popular because it is a steel that Crucible designed specifically for the knife industry. If it is highly successful we may see more such steels from them. That would be great.

If you look at the Press Release section on the Chris Reeve website, it would appear that Chris has decided to replace BG-42 with CPM-S30V.

Spyderco is testing a number of steels, including BG-42, S30V and a few others for use in production knives, but nothing is yet committed.
