What are the "competition" versions of HRs and JHs?

Hey can anyone help me? Im looking at HRs. I see alot of "competition" HRs and JHs. What is the finish? What are your thoughts on the finish vs the original coatings ie. sage, urban grey, olive,etc. The handles all look the same also. Are they micarta or G10? Are all comps mag or regular. The comp HRs seem to be quite a bit less expensive than the originals. Are they different in thickness or length? Would you save money on the comps or get the originals? Thanks for the help.
 
Thanks Tom. That thread answered my questions perfectly. Im not as great with knife cleanup and sharpening as I should be so Ill stick to the coated, DC, or satin blades. Thanks again for taking the trouble to help.
