Hello. I'd like to know the differences between the Bantam BHW (286) and the Omni Hunter 12 PT (397BK). I knoe the Bantams are made in China and the Omnis are U.S-made, but what about materials? They both are listed as 420HC with Edge 2X. Both have thermoplastic handles. The only real difference I can see is that they're shaped differently and one has a belt clip (Bantam) as opposed to a sheath (Omni). Are there any differences in terms of materials?

Well, first the Bantam is a Taiwan knife and not a China knife if I remember correctly. This does make a difference to some people. The only thing I could speak to other than that is that "thermoplastic" is a term that, I believe, is very generic and refers to many different qualities of the stuff used in handles. That said, with the Bantam being in the price point it is compared to the Omni, it could be that the thermoplastic used in the Bantam could have a cheaper feel than that used in the Omni.

My Bantam has CHINA stamped on the blade tang. I was wondering if there was a difference between the U.S-made 420HC with Edge2X, and the foreign-made 420HC with Edge2X.

I have a bantam and a mantis that are imported, and several us made bucks,in my limited experience with the imported ones, they seem to be very close or identical to the us models as far as steel goes.Though in general they do seem to be a little cheaper made, imo which makes sense, and the us models seem to come with a better edge imo,but they all sharped up nice:)

The Bantam and it appears the Diamondback fixed blades started in Taiwan and have been moved to China, I have 2 Diamondbacks here that are the older spearpoint blade, that are stamped Taiwan, but all of the newer droppoint ones I saw at Dick's Sporting Goods last night were stamped China.
