I am not sure about the municipal code for Colorado Springs. Cities can be more restrictive than state law, but not less restrictive. I would suggest calling the municipal court and asking them for a copy of the ordinance.

You might also want to look at Colorado state knife laws here: www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum61/HTML/000012.html

County and City municipal codes for CO can be found here: www.law.du.edu/library/research_links/municodes.htm

The law in Colorado Springs seems to be basically the same as the state law, but there are weird technical differences. In Colorado Springs, all knives are considered to be "dangerous or deadly weapons", regardless of blade length or design. However, it's only unlawful to conceal knives with a blade length over 3.5", just like the state law.

Unlike the state law though, the term "conceal" is clearly defined in Colorado Springs law, which is interesting.
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">21-7-102: UNLAWFUL CONCEALMENT:

A.Definition: For purposes of this Section, "conceal" shall mean placement of the dangerous or deadly weapon in question about the person, or within his immediate reach, in such a manner as to be either completely hidden from view or partially hidden to such an extent that another person making normal contact with that person cannot ascertain the true nature of the weapon.</font>

There is also an additional law in Colorado Springs that says that you can't carry any knife into a place that sells alcohol for drinking on the spot. Keep in mind that all knives are considered to be "dangerous or deadly weapons"...
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">21-7-103: POSSESSION OR DISPLAY:

A.Possession:

1. It shall be unlawful for any person, as a patron of an establishment where beer or alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises, to possess or carry or display any dangerous or deadly weapon, whether concealed or not, while on the premises of such establishment. Possession of a permit or license for the possession or carrying of the weapon in question is no defense to a violation of this subsection.</font>

My daughter Judy lives in Ft. Collins. One day she went into a gun store (which sold a number of other things), and met a person coming down the main aisle with a naked sword in his hand.

Despite his matter of fact demeanor, Judy backed down a side aisle, and said, 'There can be only ONE!' Apparently, the guy wasn't a 'Highlander' fan, as he just looked at her in a perplexed manner, and continued out the store with his new sword.

So it goes. Walt
