Y'know, like BM has the 710 and 940 as flagships.
I gotta have at least one Al Mar in my knife roll, any suggestions?
Opinions on the Nomad?

Would the Sere2000 not be "the" Al Mar to have.

I am looking for the Ultra lite's but those are not for everyone (i think).

The Shrike (I got one) is pretty nice in terms of F&F, ergonomics and cutting performance. But it's right-hand tip-down carry only.

No opinion on the Nomad, I am trying to get hold of one.

The SERE Operator in S30V or VG-10 feels very light and balanced though I think it might not be suitable for heavy duty chopping, batoning work.

Just my 2 cents worth.

i have the nomad, its pretty good though i think it was abit overpriced. its a small knife, the size of the spyderco delica. pretty good design though. for the same price as a nomad, you can get one of the bigger more substantial al mars like the sere 2000. the sere 2000 is one my all time favorite knives.

the payara looks cool, ive been wanting one of those for a while.

must have is al mar would be the sere operator.
normad design by kirk rexroat?
nice!
but i'm not too certain if the late al mar had any hand in it's design?
we're talking about al mar knife collecting because of "Al Mar" the man right?

The SERE 2000 is a great knife. Put mine up for sale/trade a couple of weeks ago. Don't know what I was thinking. Glad I still have it.;)

I also consider the SERE 2000 to be the "flagship" Al Mar folder. As far as the Nomad, it's one of my favorite EDC folders. Mine is very well made, slightly better than the usual "Spyderco" sharp, and very comfortable to carry.

My only wish for the Nomad is that they would switch the nylon washers for PB ones, although none of my Al Mars has ever given me a problem because of the nylon washers.

I'm in the same boat as the original OP, not a single Al Mar knife. If I were to pick one out today, it would be the Hawk, in black pearl or another natural materials. Classy!
