Hi everyone
I want to know what are these little pits on the grind of the blade specially on competition finish. Are those machining marks?

Thank you

if they are black pits then could be a little corrosion, likely just cosmetic though

If its comp finish it may just be machine marks, expecially if its almost like a consistent fabric looking texture. potentially infi dimples?

Use imgur and upload pictures there.

If it's a Competition finish, it's what everyone here refers to as "gremlins".

Chatter and machining marks.... Nothing out of the ordinary.
Actually looks like you have a good one. :D
I wish mine looked that nice.
some of the painted blades have deep gouges.

FYI all the Bussekin blades are carved from flat stock by CNC mills. That explains most of the linear patterns. The blades are then heat treated. Although the Shop has never denied or confirmed this, informed speculation is that the steel surface gets decarburized during the HT, where the carbon is essentially burnt out of the very top layer of metal. Removing that microscopically thin layer then exposes those tiny shallow pits.
