I'm trying to get a feel for what SOG Fixed blades are populare here on Blade forums. Either ones that you own and really like or ones that you would really like to own or even have owned in the past. Can be one or more. And if you are like me and can't really deside then pick your most used SOGs.

Thanks in advance.

My most used SOGs are my Government, Desert Dagger and Mini Pentagon. Though my new Tech I (think SEAL 2000 with a 6" blade) has been getting a lot of belt tme lately.

my most favorite ??? still the S-1 Bowie !!

after that, tough call.... the Tigershark, the Tech II, the SEAL 2000 .... tough call....

Cheers,

Carl

I would go with the SEAL Pup. Not too long, not too short. I am thinkinbg about the Nylon Sheath however, though I think complaints about the Kydex are over blown.

I would also add the SEAL Revolver, though some may not agree that it is a fixed blade ;)

Seal Revolver for me also :D , yes it's fixed IMO, because the "user" blade locks into a fixed position while blade is being used. It only changes to another blade type when you want to change it.

From a usage perspective, I vote first for the Seal Pup. It goes with me every time I travel, go outdoors, etc. As previously stated by Scottsman, it's just the right size - not too long, not too short.

While this vote may raise some brows, I'm voting second for the Recondo as it fits the bill for extreme use. Mine is BG-42 steel, however, I think other steels are available. This is one tough knife in BG-42.

From an appearance perspective, my favorite fixed blade is "hands down" the Desert Dagger. The first time I saw it, I had to have it.

One of these days, I'm going to post picts of all my SOGS.

Please post them when you can, we are always in need of a knife pic. fix :D , I too love the DD, it is one slick knife.

Robbie Roberson ;)

Thanks a bunch for the votes. Please keep them coming. Below is a list of the knives mentioned and how many times. Will keep this updated as more votes come in.

Bowie - 2
Desert Dagger - 3
Field Pup - 1
Government - 2
Pentagon - 2
Mini Pentagon - 1
Recon Bowie - 3
Recondo - 2
SEAL 2000 - 3
SEAL Pup - 3
SEAL Revolver - 3
Tigershark - 3
Tech I - 1
Tech II - 1

wildmanh,

you missed garageboy's vote for the Recon Bowie.... add that to your tally.

and while you're at it, if it's OK to vote by proxy, add 2 more for the Recon Bowie, my pals Tim and Gordon vote for that one.

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks for pointing that out to me. :o I've added the Recon Bowie - 3. :)

Proxy is just fine. How does your friend like the two SEAL 2000's he got last month?

I will add up the score for the bigblade: my favorite SOG is the Tigershark. That vote is for practical use. Design? Hmmm. I think i still would go with the Tigershark, although i have to admit i LOVE the Recondo too looking at it. Should have had a bigger blade for me, actually! :D

Thanks again guys. :) We have some good info here. Though I'm supprised that this thread has gotten so few hits. I know there are more SOG owners out there that post. Don't be shy, please post and let us know what you like.

I'm new to the forum, but just bought a "Field Pup" last nite and chose it over some other more expensive knives because it has such a nice feel to it

I've been bit by the knife/sword collecting bug recently and the first few
knives I've purchased are SOG knives, I have three, the Seal pup, Seal 2000,
and the Tigershark. I really have not used them much, but the Seal pup is
the knife that I like to carry with me on weekend surf trips and stuff.

I have a SOG S-1 Bowie. The sharpening stone was already broken in the sheath pocket when I got it, or broke while I was trying to get it out of the pocket. It will be my last SOG knife. I'm new around here and not trying to start a ruckus but if your SOG Bowie looks nice on the wall, leave it there. There are far better field knives for far less money. Then again, I'm not a "for display only" kind of guy. Everything around here gets used. I have a Randall 11 and 27 also, and both of these knives go into the field (gasp!!) every hunting season.

Terhune, Welcome to BladeForums, you don't have to worry about starting a ruckus here, especially about the S-1. There are a lot of S-1 fans here, and I am sure they would be upset if their stones were broken also.
It seems to be a very well liked knife, on the wall and in the field. Sorry your stone was broken, I am sure SOG would help you out on that issue if you contacted them, as far a less expensive field knives, you are right.

Robbie Roberson ;)

P.S. Randall makes a great knife also.

I must confess to a bit of SOG heresy.... I just sold my SOG Seal 2000 to a good pal of wildmanh's .....

good thing I live far away from y'all, because I can almost feel all the whapping's a few folks would give me for that bit of foolishness.

why sell it ?? I reckon because wildmanh's pal wanted a Real Knife, I had one, it was in his neighborhood on loan to wildmanh for a couple of weeks ..... and I'm a nice guy ?? don't know about that.....

anyway, I've got a couple of replacements, and I've still got the awesome SOG Tigershark as the most-favored field/camp knife.

and besides, wildmanh has a pass-around SOG S-1 Bowie that's gonna be headed my way when he is done whomping on it during all the field tests that are required.

Cheers and Happy SOG'ing,

Carl

The OEM stone is pretty crappy. I'd replace them anyways. Still, it shouldn't be dead on arrival
