I've been using a stag handle 7 blade horseman knife by Irving Cutlery Co for the past 6 months or so daily as I am an equestrian and find it very useful. Just wondering what are the best products for this knife, especially on the steel. I'm not super worried about the stag since its already got a lot of wear. I just want to know how to combat and prevent rust and allow opening and closing of the knife to be easier. I used rem oil a few times but am afraid to get it on the stag scales as I don't know the consequences. Basically what is a good lubricant and rust fighting product that is safe for stag scales?

BreakFree CLP is a good rust preventive and lubricant. But if you're using it regularly, there's probably little to worry about -- just keep it reasonably dry.

As stated, seeing as though it's a regular user, just wipe the blade clean when you have finished using it and keep it dry. Daily use is the best preventative maintenance for a knife.
