What are the rules about selling HI's here?

I spend most of my time and money on guns now but I used to hang around here at times. I was looking for things to sell to finance more guns and found several HI's in a drawer that I'm not using. I would like to post some pics and some prices but I'm not sure if that is allowed? It's a one time event; I'm no knife dealer! Or should I just post them on ebay? Would it then be kosher to come back here and post a link?

Don't want to make anyone mad at me.

I just don't have a use for this Terry modified Ganga Ram (and custom sling/strap) or 25" Kobra anymore!

You have to be a gold member to sell here on the forums.

edited to keep my a$$ out of a sling:D

better read this quick - because this thread is sure to get deleted fast - or attacked by a super-mod.

best advice for non-paying member - post it for trade and then tell us about it here.

someone will probably offer to buy it anyway.

don't give it to a gold-member to sell for you - yikes! (get ya banned)

gotta obey the rules around here - folks can get kinda antsy-pantsy

upgrade your membership.

It doesn't make much sense to upgrade my membership to a site I visit once every two or three months! I was afraid somebody was going to suggest that though. I thought maybe it just applied to dealers, etc. and not the random individual who happened to have a knife to sell.

I understand that. Me? I'm here all the time, and I like to sell some to buy more, but I am not a membership snob type guy. I hope it didn't come across that way

Thanks for help. Stick them on the exchange forum and you should be okay. You can post a link to it here, I think, without getting yourself or anybody else in trouble.

Wander over to knifeforums, I think that site is still free for non dealer sellers.

Greg, what do you think of the Springfield XD pistols? They remind me of a Glock and they have been getting all kinds of praise from the gun mags and the NRA named it pistol of the year. I was thinking of getting one to try out. Have you shot one yet? I wonder how it would fair against my Sig 229?

what do you think of the Springfield XD pistols?

Depends on what you want to do with it I suppose! I think they are an interesting design and an excellent value. The new XD Compact might be a great choice for CCW if you like autos for such things. (I don't, I'm an old guy who prefers revolvers for daily carry.) They are going to make the XD Compact in .40 soon and that just might push me into getting one. Maybe. (And all of these "service autos" will be more likely to get attention from me when the AW ban expires next year and you can buy new high caps again without selling your car!) When it comes right down to it, money spent on an XD would be money taken away from classic old S&W revolvers or C&R guns! The last "new gun" I bought was a T/C Encore so that I could piece together a .45 caliber black powder rifle for this fall's deer season.

I buy guns on gunbroker.com, etc. and then have them sent to my Tulsa dealer. The poor guy is sitting on three handguns for me right now. Every time I was going to drive in and get one, I found another one to buy. So then I would put off the meeting until that one came in. I'm finally going in tomorrow night no matter what happens!

Cool! What is the AW ban? Is that the high capasity mag ban? Is that going to expire nation wide? I'd love to get 15+ in my hand guns!

When is the XD compact going to be made in .40? I was thinking of getting it in 9mm but I like the .40 much more! 9mm is ok but I like more power but I still would not want to get hit with 9mm as it can still drop anyone with a well placed shot. My wife carries a Sig 239 in 9mm and acctually pulled it on a guy once who was threating her. I thank God she had her gun with her as I was not there at the time to protect her. I think ever women should learn to shoot to protect themselves!

re: AW ban

There is a really good web site out there that will give you all the information you need. http://www.awbansunset.com/index.html

The law is due to sunset in September 2004. It did set a magazine limit of 10 rounds. It affects many details about what kinds of guns can be built and with what "features." It was an attempt to control a certain type of gun based on specified cosmetic details. The fact that these guns were almost never used in crimes before or after the ban doesn't seem to matter. And, since it was just the cosmetics that were being regulated, the makers removed those features but kept making the guns. The whole thing is stupid. What's even stupider is people going to jail over this law.

The gun rags reporting on the XD Compact have all said something like, "clearly this gun was designed to be able to use .40 S&W but Springfield refuses to confirm or deny a release date." Just based on the market, I think it will happen but whether it will be 2 months or a year is open to speculation.

Thanks for the link Gregg! I think I'll pick up the XD 9 compact. It is a sweet little gun! I'll just have to learn to like 9mm again. ;)

Sure, everyone likes to kick rounds out at the range, but I've felt no need for more than the 7+1 capacity of my Ruger P-90 DC in .45. (Never been in a war, tho--I bet that's where Hi-Cap comes inn reely handy) Silvertip HPs thru that .45 mushroom out to about the size of a 16ga. slug. FMJ's and HPs alternating, and yer ready for bear! (Did I say bear? I've been away fer a while.)

Had a high capacity 9mm, but i just got tired of pulling the trigger for 20+ rounds.
