What are the tactical and utility differences between HR and Coot?

I notice that both knives have about the same length for the blade. The physical difference is that one has a broader blade.

What are the advantages of each blade in terms of cutting capabilities? What I mean is the degree of penetration into the object of the edge, for example, an apple or even a branch of a tree, or skinning a small animal?

Hello Golok,

From what I've read, the Bandicoot is equipped with a "penetrator tip" (sharpened section on the upper edge) which improves penetration ability, giving it the advantage in self defense use, and I believe skinning, due to its slimmer profile. The Howling Rat on the other hand is more of a general utility knife, and I would hazard a guess that it is stronger laterally due to a greater amount of material. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got when I did my R&D. I chose the Howling Rat myself.

Regards,

Shaun.

Golok,
Shaun has pretty much nailed it with his answer.

The Howling Rat was designed as a general utility and skinner, whereas the Bandicoot was designed as a back-up for LEO. While the Bandicoot also makes a great skinner and utility, the slimmer profile makes it ideal for carrying it EDC. The Penetrator tip also makes it a great "poker" if the case arises

I hope this helps
