I am so impressed with the slicing ability of my new Centofante III that it got me to wondering what other Spyderco have a blade as thin as the Centofante III? I was surprised at how much thinner than the Calypso Jr. the Centofante III was.

What else has a nice thin blade that is good for slicing?

I think it is the thinnest one they have.

I was also surprised as I thought the Caly Jr. was a good slicer :)

The Centofante III is really a great slicer and good knife. :)

Far as I know, the Cento is the only folding knife Spyderco makes with a 2mm blade. The only other Spydies that thin are the kitchen knives. The next thinnest folder is the Delica, at 2.5mm. The hollow ground versions of the Delica are probably a bit thinner, at least close to the edge, than the saber ground ones. Still, for most of the cutting I do, I find the 3mm full flat ground knives, especially the Calypso Jr and the Stretch to be better slicers than any of my Delicas.

ive got a uk penknife in my pocket right now. it looks to be very thin, anyone know the exact thickness?

the cricket is also 2mm at the spine & with it's reverse S blade is an amazing slicer

my calypso Jr was 2.578mm thick at the wide point (other then the choil). If it's wrong we need to recalibrate the equipment

Don't forget the Catcherman, thin and flexible. :)
What is the thickness on the Chinese Folder?? I know it likes to cut.

Got to love the thin stuff. Also, this is my second Centofante (Centofante II) and I have loved both of them. Centofante has a bold mind to design such knives. Kudos to Spyderco for giving him enough rope to come up with some really off the beaten path designs.

Once again Spyderco has impressed me with the design aspect of their knives. It takes courage to make knives like the Centofante II and III. The II had a Wharncliif tip that was VERY pointy and sharp, some people will brake that point in the first day but I loved it. The III has a thin blade that is more likely to break as well. For those of us that actually use our knives to cut things, we love the thin pointy blades. For the ham handed Special Forces wannabees, there are still plenty of 1/4" thick chisel ground Tantos out there. They won't cut worth a damm but they probably won't know the difference anyways.

The Calypsos (Jr. and large), Centofante II and III, and Delica are true slicers. I need to look for a Centofante I now I guess.

This post got me to thinking about thin blades. So I grabbed my calipers and went looking in the knife box. The thinnest one I could find was the the Mini-Dyad. Came in at a hair over 2 mm. I have allways liked the plain edge on that knife for slicing.
I checked the Chinese folder, it's 3 mm. along with the Stretch and Calypso Jr. I don't have a Centofante III, but the Vesuvius that I have is 2.5 mm.

PS I took all of the measurements at the thickest part of the blade, close to the tang.

Kgriggs8 is right on the money about thin blades!

The Centofante III cuts better than any other folder I have.
When you combine the thin blade with VG-10 you come up with an excellent slicer.

When I first saw the C3 I immediately had some reservations that it might be too thin and fragile.
But then I thought about all the Schrade Old Timer stockmans that I have used over the years, and all of the Victorinox SAKs I have used, and all of the kitchen knives that I have used, and all of the fillet knives that I have used...and it occured to me...I have'nt broken a blade since I was an inexperienced kid.

I've been carrying my C3 every since I bought it and its performance has been terrific.
It even sent my G-10 Police back to the box!

Cheers,
Allen.
