Up here in the boonies of Canada a lot of guys use them for hunting. A great skinner and all round good small fixed blade. I find them slightly strange looking, like a distorted Nessmuk But they feel great in the hand and cut well. AND, they're Canadian made ;-)
They're a really versatile, under-rated design, imo. As mentioned, great for hunting/skinning work, but also great for just general, all-around camp use. Ergonomics are quite good. I have the smaller #2 'Bird & Trout' version and love it. It's been used for just about everything, right up to processing elk:
The Bark River version is excellent as well, with a bit more spine and a full convex grind. This is one of the fixed blades I continually reach for, regardless of what I'm doing outdoors (or in the kitchen):
I love the Canadian bowback design in all its many varieties. I think its one of the best all-around camp knives designs. I can't really see anything it can't do.
I like the offset handle. It's much more conducive to food prep, slicing and dicing much like a kitchen knife.
