I'm guessing it's the trademarked brand of the knife-maker. I know that there are books of cattle branding irons; perhaps there are books of knife-brands also. The trademark might well have a federal listing. Depending upon the professional "life-time" of the knife-maker and his relative success in the market, he may not have applied for a trademark.

Yeah I'd say its someones cattle brand. There are thousands and thousands of brands, some registered, some not. It could be the makers brand, or at one point a customer added it there.
