What are these worth?

I hate to say it again, but the way I determine the value of a knife is via a month long watch on ebay.

Search it (including a finished auction advanced search), and watch them. See what they are really goin' for.

Like that old PUMA. That vintage is indicates it's probably one of the "good" ones.

But, when all is said and done, the value of a knife is personal (what it means to you). Do you want to keep it or is it just clutter?

With the exception of the Puma, which was a birthday gift, they're all pretty much clutter. That one, I'd probably keep.

I'm in a serious streamlining mode right now, getting rid of stuff I don't use in favor of stuff I do use. Feeling very weighed down by stuff at the moment.

There's quite a demand for genuine Schrade products now, since Shrade went out of business in 2004. OldTimers, especially less-common models such as your's, are especially collectible and perhaps valuable. Prices just kept going higher and higher; recently it seems they've stabilized.

I'm not sure the recent selling price of an OldTimer like your's. But I can say it's collectible and you won't have any trouble selling it. It'll sell for significantly more if the knife is unused and you've kept the original packaging.

You should ask down at the Schrade Collectors area of the forum. Perhaps someone there has been watching eBay recently.

Best Wishes,
Bob

I can think of several people who post in the balisong forum who would probably be interested in your Parker bali (mostly for historical value). Older balis like that one are sometimes prized because they're relics from a time when balisong production was en vogue.
Personally, I can't give you a value for it, but post it over there and someone will be able to help you.

I am not sure how good of a indicator Ebay is. A lot of people have gotten ripped off on Ebay and they are very careful about the price they will pay for a knife without a upclose inspection.

You can run a advanced search on the finished auctions if you want to check to see what any given knife has sold for in the last 30 days. That will at least give you a ball park figure on what you might get for a knife if you were to sell it on Ebay.

That is hard to tell without knowing where the knife is made. It could be made in Germany, but there is a china made Puma that looks a lot like that one, in the wholesale catalog on close out for around $6.

I use to sell them when they were new. Back then there were not as many balisong collectors as there are now. I use to only get about twenty or twenty two dollars for the Japan made butterfly knifes. Now I think they sell for around $30 and up. I had a Jade handled one that I put in my own collection, only my son got a hold of it and turned it into a throwing knife. It was still in pretty good condition, but it was not new anymore and it was a little sloppy compaired to what it was. I decided to let it go and I think I let the guy have it for around $30. He was very happy to get it and even after he inspected the knife he thought he got a good deal on a very nice knife. But for me it was just not the same, because I had seen the knife when it was new and pristine.

Thanks for all the feedback. Both the Schrade and the Parker are used, and they do show that, but both are in pretty decent shape overall. The Schrade's probably not in ideal collector condition.

That Puma's definitely made in Germany. Fit and finish are superb. I just saw what looked like nearly identical Pumas in the Sportsman's Guide for around $30 or $40 each, but those may have been from China.

I guess I'm looking to get rid of the Schrade, Rigid and Parker, but I'm sure there are rules about posting for sale items in non for sale forums, and I don't think I can post in the for sale foums yet. So I'll hold off on that for now. Thanks again for the information.

Yeah, I figured the Puma was German. That 80's and early 90's time frame.

They were still sweet then, better than Buck IMO.
