Like the title says, if you are receiving a tax refund, what do you plan to spend it on? Will it be knives, home improvements, new appliances, furniture, booze, mad money? Yes, I know that having the gov't hold your money is not the best financial idea, so now that we have that out of way, you don't have to put it in this thread. :D

Already went through my fed return, now I'm waiting on my MI return so I can pick up a late b-day gift for my girl, and maybe a nice bit o' pocket candy for me

What's a tax refund? Is that one of those things I hear about married people and students getting?

Did you know that letting the Govt. isn't the best thing to do???

Anyway, what little there is is just going towards next year's estimated taxes.

LOL, yeah there is always one smartass. :D

Yes, that's another option, to apply the refund to next year, but even I can't stand the gov't holding my money that long.

$1000 extra to the IRA, a month's extra principal on the mortgage payment, paid off half of the small credit card bill run up for some climbing gear, plane tickets and expenses on a trip, then used what was left to pay cash for meals on a 3 day trip with my parents, and to take ~$100 each of cash and gasoline to friends from church who are without power, and running a generator after this week's tornadoes.
Still waiting on the state return, for either a new backpack, or to put toward a better camera.
I don't mind that they're holding a few grand over the course of the year, 'cause I tend to make better use of the lump sum, and be at least semi-responsible with it.
No complaints here. Things worked out pretty well this year, I think.

Ours is going towards property tax... $1600.

We try to break even, but usually get a little bit back. This year we bought furniture with it.

Buying a house. We got approved today. First Osama gets SEAL-whacked, then we get approved. We's Happy. :)

Congrats! My refund came and went a month or so ago. I managed to put a little aside and bought a Strider SNG.

Bought a suv for the wife, bought her a laptop, paid half on son's x box 360, got 1 daughter a new bike, and the other a swing set. I bought my self a new glock 22 and a beretta neo 22 lr. The rest went to bills bills or and more bills

I had to write a check... Our company split into two divisions, and apparently the tax withholding isn't properly associated. One division held out 8% for Fed income tax, and the other division held out only 1%... Furthermore, one of Wife's jobs held out only 0.1%, while her main job held out 10%. What a complete and total cluster&*%$ system.

The company did start a new vacation time policy and bought out all of our built up PTO time. I promptly spent every penny on pocketknives. :D

I'm buying a 3pt. tiller for my tractor, giving some to the American Cancer Society and putting the rest into savings.

Wrapping up tuition bills for my two sons in college. Also donated some money to charity and put some money in the american AMCAP fund for my sister. I opened a cash account in her name at my office to save for her divorce.

With what was left from last year and what we got this year we purchased a new bed (king size) and will get the house painted (and the fences and the decks ...).

We prefer the "Chrsitmas in March" plan too. If we did have everything sorted out to the penny the "savings" would not be realized or utilized to their full potential. With savings account earning something on the order of 0.00125% I'm good with letting the gov't keep the kitty for our rainy day.
