I'm looking for something specifically to cut brass rivets (copper rivets are much easier). I'm basically using a fence cutting tool at the moment but the way it's setup is preventing me from cutting the rivet as short as it needs to be. It has big bolts from the compound action so I have to cut at an angle and it leaves too much stem left to peen down properly.

And.... if anyone knows of a more affordable "single" purpose rivet setter (without the domer included) please let me know. As of right now the only single setters I can find are about $75 per size. I really enjoy the aesthetic of brass rivets over copper and it bums me out I haven't been able to easily use them :(

Any helpful insights would truly be appreciated!

Have you looked at long handled kinipex or channel lock nippers?

I looked at 12" nippers on amazon but I didn't see any knipex version. I was eyeballing some knipex angled cutters but they seemed a bit short for the force required (around 8"). I know they cut substantially better than their chinese counterparts but I'm dubious they can bridge that 4" gap.

Just got done returning some chinese made nippers that quite literally... wouldn't cut it 🫢

I'd like to stick to Amazon for the easy returns if possible.

I use wiha nippers for cutting rivets. They allow me to get close to the burr.

These look great for the price, I was reading about Wiha yesterday. I went ahead and grabbed the 10" german made Knipex nippers that Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer found. I'll be trying out Wiha in future so thanks for the suggestion :)

They arrived yesterday and most importantly, they cut brass rivets with ease! Well worth the $33 considering most knipex were substantially more.

I had a couple cutters that could cut copper but brass was a different story.
