What are you using for a forge blower? Gas forges that is

I've been using a hair dryer for years, and been thinking off and on about upgrading, but the hair dryer works. The only down side is I have to tape it on the burner, then shut down and take the tape off.

What are you guys using? What kind of CFM is required? I mean if a hair dryer is boosting it it shouldn't take much?

Will, I use a squirrel-cage type draft inducing furnace blower. Runs on 120v. I secure it above a ball valve (to regulate the air flow) with a rubber connector from
the plumbing dept of HD with hose clamps. Like you said, you don't need much CFM.
Search around surplus furnace parts sites.

Will, I am throwing out the disclaimer that I have not built or operated a blown gas forge. But from an engineering wag I would prefer a centrifical blower designed to overcome backpressure. This would allow smaller openings in the forge for better heat retention, without causing air/fuel mixture problems.
