Jersytex7...You sound like a contemporary. Back when I was a kid, Chuck Connors appeared at our "Police and Firefighters" rodeo, an annual event held in the old St. Louis Arena.
Connors came riding into the arena, dismounted, and they killed all the lights. He then unloaded his famous rifle rapid-fire, with only the muzzle flashes of the gun for illumination.
Quite a show!
I grew up watching all those old Westerns; my mom had a serious crush on James Garner....
Still my favorite after all those years is Have Gun, Will Travel. Way ahead of it's time as well; Boone was a thespian and many of the plots borrowed from Shakespeare and other classics. Had quite a lot of stuff on primitive weapons too, a subject I've always been involved with.
