Hey guys, i am just curious as i am working on some projects, what you guys are working on now in terms of knife pimping?

a sample of what i am working on: adding a mirrior polish to my cyclone and JYD2.

i just got done polishing the washers for my cyclone. talk about improvement! but then again i have beat the heck out of it so i guess i was asking it to be a mess inside :p

planning on buying a cloth wheel for my table top grinder and then just loading it up with polishing compound. gonna be interesting to see what happens when i eventually take the knife to it. if it works out well, i may be crazy enough to try it on some other knives.

just for the record, my cyclone and JYD2 are my beaters. i dont abuse, but i do use them for the really really crappy tasks that i wouldnt want my SG2 or Lahar doing. so they are also there for the pimping. i mess up, so long as the knife still works, then i really dont care on these two. you would all hear my scream if i did something like that to the Lahar or SG2.

so what do you guys have in the works? can be scales, new finish, painting *mike lol*, w/e.

I just vinegar etched another D2 CB, my EDC Leek this time. Looks pretty hot, came out darker than my JYD.

Just got my new scanner so there will be a ton of pics soon.

I had a dam leek come of the last run that had some spot rust on the handle.
I tried a little polishing compound on it and... oops it is a little too shiny in that one spot now. I took some jewelers rouge on a polishing wheel and the handle has a mirror finish to it now.
This was all Mikes idea.
As I couldn't sell it any more I gave it to him. I think he might have posted some pics of it a while back.

Last night I made 2 frankenshallots out of a CB ZDP and an all black one. Turned out really nice! Lock interface is perfect! Tonight, this one meets the coarse stones for a re-bevel...

Here's some quick shots...I didn't bother to clean it up and make it pretty for the camera!

Welcome.....Mike's brother.......I assume

I have some cocobolo RAM scales in the works for a friend. I still need to finish the other scale on my Bump, too.

Most of my "knife pimping" effort is going into a new fixed blade for myself. A 4.5" blade of CPM D2 with a cocuswood (or maybe blackwood) handle.

I'm interested in seeing what I can do with the CB Shallot (as soon as I can get my hands on one). Definitely a satin blade finish and maybe a wood scale.

I'm working on acquiring every version of the Leek. If it's got to be a hands-on project, then I'm carving some green burl wood handles out for my Leek CB. Yes, I'm even fine-chiseling the nested part for the torsion bar and its liner.

I had the same crazy idea and am working on doing the same thing with some green micarta. It is going to take me some time though I think. I am also making the stock clip on the leek a low ride clip.

The only pimping I've done was swapping and polishing some screws between my Shallot and Leek.

The Shallot came with black screws, which look goofy to me, and my dark-red Leek came with Silver screws, ditto. So I swapped the silver Leek screws in the Shallot, the black Shallot screws into the Leek, and polished the top of the pivot pin on the shallot to remove the paint/coating/whatever it is. They both look better now :)

I keep putting off sending 2 sets of 1660 Ti slabs to STR
to be anodized.
I tend to procrastinate. :o
