What are your experiences with the Spyderco Superhawk?

Great in the hand, feel, really superior ergos, the blade sweep is perfect but being a southpaw that compression lock is a tough one to use.
 
I like hawkbills so I was excited about this one. Unfortunately it came dull as wet toast. The edge was very thick with very little bevel, so sharpening has been very difficult. I don't have a diamond rod, but will have to get one to re-form bevels to get an edge.

The compression lock occasionally pinches the palm of my hand when deploying the blade.
