What are your favorite premade axe handle websites for rehandling? and why?

Makers come and go and suppliers change with the seasons. If at the hardware store a haft sizes up in contour and length when it's in your hand and the grain spies nice by eye then that's really the baby you want to take home with you.

I have not found any seller of new handles that offers what I consider to be a great axe handle. Probably the closest thing is a Velvi-cut replacement handle from Omaha knife.

For a good value on a ready to hang handle look to House Handle. They have problems getting things aligned consistently but you're likely to get an acceptable haft that is ready to use. And their return policy is good if you get a crappy one.

If you're handy and don't mind thinning a haft and fitting it yourself then I haven't found any better wood than that offered by Tennessee Hickory Products. The problem is that their handles are fat like a bat in the condition they're delivered. You really have to take a lot of wood off them to make a nice handle. Still, they're my first choice.

Even Link Handles, available at Ace Hardware and other places, occasionally make a good handle. In fact, if looking for a haft for a boy's axe or cruiser I'll look at Link first. For some reason they seem to do well on the smaller hafts.

Link seams to make a good handle! The handles i seen today had good straight grain hardly any runout and about as straight as a gun barrel! House handle makes a pretty good handle too, might have to profile the haft to suit your needs!

Rona surprises me every once in a while. I have found a source for Wetterlings handles, but they are costly. ($30-$35). At least I don't pay for shipping from this guy.

You said "your favorite" and "website" so ....

House Handle and these pictures are why. Does this count as pre-made? Maybe not. If Square_peg tells you that a CT Velvicut handle is GTG, and you don't want to do a bunch of fitting, then I'd take that advice. Also, HH because of 30 inch handles which I have found to be my personal preference. Far as I know, there is nowhere else to get them. The pictured handle is 30 inches.

The size selection is terrible as is the varnish, but if I just needed a 36 inch handle (I don't) I have never had a problem finding a good Link at HD or Lowes. I haven't purchased one, but i always look at them. Lowes is cheaper on these BTW. If you want a huge selection of sizes and types, House Handle or Tennessee Hickory.
