T1, T2, T3 and the tactical and rangers?

I hadn't heard a lot about these knives until recently, and they are not to far away from where I'm at now. They seem great, but are pretty pricey.

Eh? Likes, dislikes, drooling factor, other knives you would consider in the same class, why you bought one, why you didn't, pictures of them stabbing zombie ninjas?

OOPS. Wrong company. Sorry.

I had the T1, very nice and well made. But I didn't like the hard rubbery sort of grips. The originals had Micarta but they switched to rubber for productions for some reason.

Since this is about the knives and not the wilderness they might or might not be used in, off we go to Knife Reviews & Testing.

Ok. I was wanting the perspective of the wilderness crew primarily, especially since it is a hard use knife...

This is a chance for the Knife Reviews and Testing crew to show me what they've got!

I have a T2 with black nylon scales. Had two - the PE and the CE. Kept the CE.

It's a really well made knife. Solid. Great fit and finish throughout and a razor sharp edge out of the box. Very nicely balanced.

It's not something I can easily articulate, but there is "something" special about this knife. Maybe it's the "clean" Harsey design, the great blade geometry, or the "feel" of precision. The liner lock is perfectly centered, and the detent holds the blade closed as well or better than any other liner lock I've ever used (including Emerson, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc.). The opening/closing action is super smooth and consistent every time.

It's one of those products where everything is done the right way, if you know what I mean.
The thumbstuds are exactly in the right place...they're not too pointy or too smooth...the blade finish is uniform...the grinds are excellent.

It's also a slim and relatively light carry for a 4 inch blade knife.

So as I guess you can tell, I recommend it. :)

i have been using a t1 carbon fiber for about 6 or 7 months and i hate it. but there are pros to it. 1) being the clip is made well, but it sits to high in the pocket and is tip down only.2) is the liner lock as far as a liner lock goes is solid, but only after i took it apart and bent it to go under the blade better. its ergonomically fine in hand but the screws seem very cheap and strip easily. it cuts but with harder use the blade got quite a bit of play in it. so bad when closing the blade leans over and scrapes the liner. i have heard of others unsatisfied, such as ngk, they aren't big fans of them. but i believe that every once and a while you might find a nice one. good luck to anyone who is willing to try one.

I have a Lone Wolf Harsey T1 in G-10 (plain edge). I have not had any problems with it at all: solid lock-up, no blade play, centered blade, the S30V holds a wicked edge.

I have the T2 in cocobolo.

The blade is excellent. Full flat grind, it's the best slicer of any of my many factory knives, including other full flats. The handle fits the hand very well but the cocobolo is a little slippery when wet. Feels good in the hand. Liner is thick for a factory liner lock, goes a little far to the right for my taste, but lock up is solid and side to side play is minimal.

Mine's a NGK purchase from a few years ago - they did have a lot of qc problems... my scales are not perfect, but are 95% and the blade centers perfectly when closed, which was a problem with a lot of them, I hear.

The clip is not removable because of the way it mounts. I actually removed mine, cut off the clip from the bracket (where it attaches, that is) with a dremel, smoothed it out, and remounted the bracket. Because I don't use clips on knives. It's an ok solution, but you shouldn't have to take a dremel to your knife.
