I am thinking really hard on this one, I want a nice bushcraft knife, and I have large hands so I think this will fit me better than the Trapper.

They are two different knives
I really like the two knives and use them as a pair

I have medium hands with larger palms
The Trapper handle size is just right, curved and comfortable, but could be bigger
But if you have large hands the handle will be too small
The handle on the Camper is longer and straighter
More suited to heavier holds and will be fine for larger hands

The Trapper is a 3 1/2" (90cm) O1 blade with a fine point
The size makes the knife very controllable
I do limited batoning with it
I have it in a zero scandi grind

The Camper is a 5" (125cm) D2 blade with a scandi with a secondary grind
It is a much tougher rougher usage knife
No way I can use the point of the knife for finer work

Are you comforable using a 5" knife for finer work?
If so the Camper will be good

(There is the Badger at 115cm if you can find it made up)

The Camper is an excellent knife. IMHO it's a very good bushcraft blade, it's light and nimble for its size, yet plenty strong and the fit and finish is up there with the best. I love mine.

Switchblade

I agree

But how do you like a 5" blade as your main knife?
Do you manage the finer work?

Thanks, to be honest I thought I would have alot of replys like yours but, that has not worked out so far. What are your thoughts on the sheath that comes with it?

Like I said, I really like this model and it has became one of my favorite knives. I have a Trapper model as well and I like that too, but the length of the blade is a bit on the short side (for me). That's why I got the Camper and the additional blade length makes all the difference for me. I manage everything I need to with this knife including finer work like whittling, simple carving, traps and stakes, fish cleaning, food prep, etc... I don't do intricate woodwork, so I didn't find any limitations caused by the length of the blade. It suits me just fine. (YMMV)

I think it is a strong sheath and it offers two different belt mounting options. It keeps the knife secure and accessible and it does a fairly good job at that. Although it is better quality than the one which came with my Trapper, I feel it's still not quite up to the quality level of the knife. It's worth to use some sort of leather treatment substance (Obenauf's, paraffin oil, etc..) every now and then. (By the way my Trapper is 01 steel and the Camper is D2.)

i love mine, like switchblade61 opinion, I do have a trapper but it is somewhat too short for me, and the length of the camper is just right. I made the scale and sheath so I dont know the quality of their sheath.

What I love about this forum is we have the same knives and how we use them is radically different
And that is good

The sheath is totally adequate
The leather is good, (shiny so it will not take beeswax, my prefered treatment)
Hip or dangler
Holds the knife deeply
