Knifenews.com is counting down the top 25 knife brands, and their list has had some surprises so far. Personally, I was surprised to see Kizer on the list at all, and Chris Reeve Knives down at spot #14. The ranking is based on a survey of brand recall, so they're not just making it up as they go. Anyone else seen this? I'm curious who will be #1... http://knifenews.com/category/knife-companies/

Top 25 knife brands people can remember?!?!

We need to seperate that clearly from 'top 25 knife brands'

This is just brand awareness, nothing to do with anything else.....

Interesting, but oh so irrelevant unless you're a fan of who's better at marketing.

Well, maybe. I don't think many of these companies do much advertising at all.

This is a hard question. Because I dont really subscribe to a lot of brand loyalty. I like knives from a variety of manufacturers. But If I had to list the ones that currently land on my radar when they announce new products it would be these.

1. Kai- I have a lot of history with both their brands. I have not always been the best customer but I cant recall any brand and its employees treating me better than they have. Even when i dont own any of their knives I still have a lot of respect for what they do.

2. Microtech. Though lately i havent been stoked by much. I do have some high hopes for the tach 3 though I really wish they had a bushing option instead of bearings.

3. Lionsteel- This brand I didnt connect with when they first launched. Now I find myself getting into them a lot more.

4. Carson lab - Reall doing some innovative stuff. I hope to see more entry level options from this brand

5. bastinelli - Im not really a fan of the tactical marketing they subscribe to but this brands productions are made by lionsteel and I really love the ergos.

I don't subscribe to brand loyalty either. Loyalty is gained through experience not just name.

Like many know, I am a SOG fan. It is the brand I own the most of. Mainly older Seki stuff but I still think some they have some real winners in their current lineup.

so with that in mind....the fact that they have SOG above Esee and CRK is an absolute joke. I don't care what their rankings are based on, seems like a crock to me...

And I just read how they did the survey. It is more than meaningless. Just being able to recall a brand? Pure hot stinking garbage.

I feel sorry for folks that think this "survey" has any importance what-so-ever.

But, but , but..........

I'm surprised Case is so low on the list. I'm almost betting that Buck will be #1 but we'll see. It's definitly in the top 8.

Most of my knives are Kershaw, Buck, Ka-Bar. I don't seek the best knives (usually too expensive), I seek the best values.

I also have several Victorinox and Mora.
