Hey folks

I have a question,
What is it you'd like to see that custom makers aren't doing? A particular style? Handle material? Blade steel? Big Bowies? Little whittlers? Simple Carbon? Fancy Pants Stainless?

Or is it all pretty well covered already?

Thanks

Don't see many old school lever lock switchblades.
Ultra niche market. ^

I'm not razzing you, Mr. Brownshoe, just saying we're all niche collectors in a niche market of one sort or another.
Enjoy the search, the hunt !

They arent lowering prices lol

more simple user friendly designs. Simple spear point or drop point designs with simple handles.

I find my self wanting to stand out with a new design feature but I never end up using those knives. The simple old designs that have been around are my favorite. Those simple designs have been around a long time for a reason.

scandie blades (that was last year or was that the year before ) 5 years ago i woudl have said kitchen knives and just 3 years ago i might have said straight razors. the market is always moving but some stick to each nitch of what they are good at or have made a name for themselves. best bet is find waht you like to make and build from there and never stop tring new styles (even i make a fighter or folder now and then )

Success in ANY field is specialization until you are extremely accomplished at your area, and have renown.

Although a few makers can excel in many forms, that's like an athlete who can do many sports: a rare talent and gift, indeed.

What makers shouldn't be aren't doing is spreading themselves into areas they aren't as good at.

I see much, and there's a source for every niche. :D

Seems like they can do most everything upon request because there are so many knifemakers and custom makers. I am sure almost anything can be done with in reason and sometimes out of reason. Some creative minds might be able to come up with some stuff, but the more exotic you go from what we already have or do something someone has not done before then usually the cost also goes up. The prices as of late have been very high, I know they usually are in the Custom market, but they have been very inflated do to people willing to pay double what the original price was or sometimes more.

Well, after recently watching the latest "Wolverine" movie, I would have to say I haven't seen any custom Wolverine claws.

Not really too useful, but I would have killed for a pair of these when I was 8 (and likely killed myself by accident once I tried them out).

Some makers that are exclusive to fixed blades, I'd like to see folders. Some that are exclusive to folders , I'd like to see fixed blades.

I bought my first production lever lock in may. It got my my attention. I think I've seen a few by our own bill deshivs on-line. I'll bet there are some leve lock custom makers in the hills of italy

I've never seen a gravity knife, and I haven't seen a lot of tactical autos. I don't see a lot of folders with thumb disks.

Affordable timascus. A sub $1000 timascus knife would sell a lot. Think Timaascus Sabenza. My idea and I get to be the first. Just sayin'

Todd Beggs has made a pair. ;)
