Greetings,
Sorry to ask again but I couldn't find the thread. Could someone recomend what belts to buy from Lee Valley to take a knife from dull to hair popping sharp !
Belts will be going on my H.F. 1 by 30 belt sander.

Thanks to All,
Eric

I use a 500 grit (20 micron) Aluminum oxide and a 15 micron silicone carbide belt prior to stropping with the leather belt coated with buffing compound.

I go from 320 straight to the leather with compound on it. The finer ones might give a sharper edge, but I havent tried them, although I'm nearly out of 320, so I may order the 500 and 1200 to try out. An 80 or 120 grit belt works for heavy thinning, like on kukris and such, and for sharpening machete's with their wide bevels and such.
