I very rarely post. Mainly because I search the site and find the answers I need. Without this site, my love for knives would have never graduated from infancy. Just want to let all you bastards know how much you mean to me and what bladeforums.com means to me.

MOAR KNIFE CONTENT!

Nah, this is a good place filled with good people. I enjoy arguing with a bunch of them. :)

sometimes we as a community let little opinions get in the way of what we are. Were all brothers here and I feel the same way, this site and everyone here mean a lot to me. Thanks for the sappy ass post OP :p

I agree wholeheartedly!! I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the forums here to start and finish my every day with.

HAHA! Same here, most of my posts are "I'll take it!" due to the fact the answer I'm looking for is usually already asked. Love this place! I'm a member of several forums, but this is the best by far:thumbup:

Long story short, I was not a knife person 11 years ago. I joined this forum because I got a job in the industry. Many years of reading and a few posts later, I've grown to love some of these people and consider them family. For instance, the links you see at the bottom of my sig line are for a raffle where all proceeds will go to an ailing member here. I watched as forum members, who budget for knives, donated to purchase prizes for this lottery. I heard how custom knife maker, Charlie Mike made and donated two knives specifically for this raffle. It is really cool to see this community come together in support of other member. To me, Blade Forums means a great group of people from all walks of life who help each other… and they also have a bunch of knife knowledge. :)

I don't post too much on BF either..:o

:D

Like B2K,
I have met a lot of people here that brings and strengthens my faith in humanity:thumbup:

This place is a wealth of information, a collective of various people from all walks of life, from every corner of the world. There is a sense of family here, a brotherhood and sisterhood if you want to call it that. As Blade2Klean wrote, there is a deep level of helping one another without asking for or expecting much in return. The only regret I have is not signing up earlier, rather I lurked for over a year simply reading and reading and reading.

What this forum means to me?

My daughter suffered severe brain injury in a hit and run in 2002 when she was 21. I had retired at age 55 the year before in a management buy-out, and my wife was a dedicated teacher who worked to age 70, so it fell to me to provide eight years of extensive care for Kim, who dominated my time. I essentially could not hunt or fish for eight years. In the years just before 2002 I had fallen into a relationship with Busse knives and Busse people. This forum as a whole, and the Busse sub-forum in particular, became a major element in maintaining my sanity. It was a connection to people and the outdoor life I loved. I became a collector, mainly of Busse but of other higher end knives occasionally.

She is now almost totally independent and I am out and about again. Turning seventy and having a not insignificant amount into knives, I am trying to cool my ardor just a little, but still check in here daily to see what's going on. I should begin to sell off some knives but don't really want to as I get a deep pleasure out of them. Soon I will begin to sell them off as my grandchildren approach college age and the money becomes more important.

One final forum thought to those to whom it applies: This stuff is supposed to be fun. Don't argue so much, don't take it so seriously, chill a little and enjoy the ride. It'll all be over soon enough.

BF has helped me grow up.

I thought that I was one of a fringe minority for enjoying, carrying and creating beautiful blades, then came the internet and the rise of Bladeforums. Now its clear that I am far from being alone.

Part of the enjoyment I get from being on this site, is interaction with custom knife makers (and collectors ), which would otherwise be impossible for me.

I live in a small town, and am of limited means. That curtails my ability to go to knife shoes or travel to satisfy the hobby.

I have met many makers online through this forum, and have met one in person (on multiple occasions and consider him a friend). Funny enough, the maker I met was a collector of a brand of knife, and we met for that reason, before he became a knife maker!

That interaction pushed my interests toward traditional knoves, which was unexpected.

The knowledge gained on this site over the years has made me a more informed consumer, and given me knowledge to enjoy knives more in every aspect.

I've learned to make leather sheaths, holsters, and even tried my hand at a self made knife or two.

Receiving advice and tips from some of the best in the business, both leather and knives.
