What Blade Stamp Is This One?

like it like i am at a loss to tell you any thing on this one!
any other old timers want to try?
JOE what you think?

Fly, We've discussed stampings like this before and on this we never figured it out . I don't think Buck did either . It looks like a 3 dot 1987 blade . A mid 1987 internal change of some sort or "hey, guys I found this 1980 three dot blade . Lets use it, just run it thru the stamp first" . Somebody else has one of these and posted pictures of it about a year ago . They are certainly a mystery . DM

That is one knife I would want to look at and hold before I bid on it. (Unless you just want it for the mystery stamp.)

Sellers often misrepresent condition and dates.

This is listed as "never used" but from the pictures, from what look like dents in the wood and scratches and dents in the brass, it looks used to me. The edge looks alright, but it could have been re-sharpened to look like that and I would really like to examine it under different light.

But then, the mystery stamp may make it more valuable, even if the mystery is ever solved.

Good user for lady fingers. :D

BG42, Thats it ! We discussed this and still no one is very sure of what and why . Thanks . DM

I have this one and don't think I've posted it before but I suffer from 'CRS' so I'll put in here since it's a "What Blade Stamp is This?" thread. Preston

onestone's pic looks like it might have a >. or maybe a >* marking on the right side (carat dot of some sort). Is that what y'all are seeing?

Pjsjr, Now, that one we do know about, it was discussed and is written accurately down . It recieved the second - on the left side because of a mid year bushing in the pivot in 1992 . If I remember this correctly . DM

Just another Veriation:

The dot seems to mark a mid year change too like the second dash on the left hand side.

Best,
Haebbie

I'm wondering if those dots could be Rockwell hardness tests that someone was being creative with the placement?

Must have been a really LATE year change or we'd see more of them around, right?

Before I post another mystery stamp, I'll try the search function. Maybe we need a subforum for mysteries!? Then again, if it is a mystery, then what do I search for (hmmm)?

Scott, Glad to see you chime in on this one . Been missing you . I know you can find these old posts . DM

The upside down V with a dot in the middle comes very often with the small
525/526/527/529 blades. But the V turned 90° counterclockwise with the dot I saw only one time ...
And nothing written in the BF about that.

Best,
Haebbie

Well, I searched "Weird" to get this one to pop up.

:D

You may want to make a note of that.
