Whilst on a hike today I came across these bones. The largest carnivore that I could see being in this spot would be a Raccoon and these bones seem quite large for the prey of a Raccoon!
Anybody have any ideas what they may be the remains of?

Is that biggest bone a femur about 6" long ? If so perhaps a dog ?

My guess would be four legged mammal. I saw a show about mountain lions on Vancouver island. If you examine them closer you should be able to figure out what they are to. Most likely ungulate, maybe canine or mountain lion.

At first I was thinking of a large fowl, like a wild turkey, but there appear to be a lot of leg bones in there; so maybe a four legged critter. Is it too early for a fawn?

Are the bones light and perhaps hollow That may lend creedence to the bird theory, Witha femur of approx 7 inches I'm gonna shay away from the deer/mnt lion theory I don't know your area, but I am often shocked by the kinds of wildlife that can be found in unlikely places, We have had a couple of coyotes running around in the heart of NYC periodically for the past few years, Also Large owls like ones that inhabit the pacific Northwest are quite capable of taking pretty big animals and can often hunt in relatively suburban areas without detection so that might be a likely assasin as for the target, Without a skull or feathers or skin it's hard to say? Large bird, Fox< or some domesticated animal would be my guess

I am thinking a fowl of some sort also. Look about 5" below the end of the knife. It looks like a wishbone and only birds have them.

In the last few years we've had a mountain lion and a bear make it within 5 miles of downtown Seattle-- and those are just the ones we know about. Raccoons and possums are common and coyotes pop up now and then. There are a couple beaver families too. I see bald eagles catching thermals between the skyscrapers a couple times a year and there are areas a couple miles from downtown where they drop in from across Puget Sound.

Birds could be very large-- like a great blue heron or eagle.

the centenial park by maple mountain ? were abouts on the island do you live ?
its probably a k9

Small world eh?I have probably passed you both at Goldstream or Thetis but was too busy looking for bones and scat !!!

Looking at the two bones int the left top, it kind of looks like someones turkey dinner. Big wings. Any wild turkeys in the area? Not the kind in the bottle.

I'm not sure,don't think so!
However they are in a place where a Raccoon could have scavenged them from somebodies garbage bin and dragged the carcass to this spot without too much effort !!!
