Hi Guys,
I have never attempted to make a Folding Knife.
What book would you recommend on how to make one
Do you need a milling machine or can you get buy on your first one with a lot of hand work?
I have allways liked my liner lock and I think it would be  to make one for my self for a first try.
Thanks for any and all your Ideas:)

If you're just going for learning "how to" for liner locks I would get Bob Terzuola's "The Tactical Folding Knife" . As an addendum to getting your stop pin & detent perfect I would also recommend Don Robinsons "my way" http://home.earthlink.net/~donwrobinson/id11.html . Those two reference works will tell you everything you need to know about Mike Walkers locking system. As for the mill ? It sure would help . Along with a surface grinder too. Plenty of guys have made them without either one though so I'm sure you could also.

Hi Dave,
Consider contacting member Don Robinson and see if he has any ideas about a liner lock project. Don't want to step on any toes, but he seems to be more active on the knet forums.
Take care, Craig

Here's a direct link to "My Way".

Or you can order the book from several knife supply catalogs or Halpern Titanium.

Here's a link to the Knet School of Knifemaking.

The reason I spend most of my knife forum time on Knet is that this forum seems to me to be mostly about forging and fixed blades.

I'm a stock removal maker who likes to make all kinds of knives.;) :D

David Wesner, Craig, thanks for the boost.:)

You might try to get a knifemaker to show you how to do it. He will have the necessary machinery, which you probably don't have. This will get you started on a knife much faster, and will also let you see what machinery you will need to get the job done.
