"Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!"

I read everything I can get my hands on; and I am always on the lookout for a good knife or history book.

Right now I'm reading:
"How The Mind Works" by Steven Pinker

Just finished reading:
Ed Fowler's "Knife Talk" &
Ken Warner's "Knives 2000"

Plus I read all the knife rags. My favorite rag is Tactical Knives, closely followed by Combat Knives. I usually buy anything I can find on knifemaking and knives in general.

Most of my reading is non-fiction of the educational type.

My Basic Texts for improving Knife Knowledge are as follows in order of usefulness to me:
01. Knife Fighting Encyclopedia
02. Military Knife Combat
03. Cold Steel
04. Applegate's various books
05. Blade Forums
06. Various knife magazines and misc. books I come across.
07. Other Internet web sites
(note, 06 and 07 should always be taken with a grain of salt unless you have personal experience with the topic)

I have found that the military's texts and training leave much to be desired and hand-to-hand combat/weapons training is not much better and probably a lot worse inside the military than outside. However, a few individuals and services are making efforts to change this, mainly the Marines who are working on a replacement for the notorious L.I.N.E. system.
