What brought you to this forum? Was it a design you saw someplace else, a knife you wanted to order, or something else? Maybe a magazine ad, or a review?

Was a lurker on BF and noticed a thread about one of the first Gatherings. I thought it was cool that you hosted a get-together and that you were local. Joined BF shortly after that and it was the Kephart that sealed the deal.

I'd seen your knives mentioned in the old W&SS & saw all the JK supporters siglines throughout BF so I had to try one for myself.
That's what brought me here.
What kept me here is the best bang for the buck in hand made knives & the great people that frequent your forum.

If I remember correctly, it was pitdog's knatchet that first made me take interest in your knives.

Come to think of it, I remember Pitdog showing the Knatchet off over on the ScrapYard Knives Outdoors forum back in 09, way before I made the transition to customs, but he put the custom bug in my head with his Knatchet.

Internet research of Kephart knife. Found out that you were not quite old enuf to be Horaces original knife maker(but close). However, you can save me some time by answering this: Were you involved with James Bowie's Knife?:p

Bearthedog had a review of the Kephart in the old WS&S forum here on Bladeforums. I loved it, bought one, and then started buying more JKs! I owned over 20 at one point. John was called Stomper back in those days.

someone mentioned you as a knife maker with reasonable prices here on BF when I was searching about custom knives, looking through the picture and order thread kinda hooked me, especially the river woods and Potawatomi. Oh, and folks seemed nice her to :)

I made Jim`s first bowie knife, forget about what you read about James Black, being the maker, it was me.

Saw the proud supporter knife you made for yourself, checked out your website and loved what I saw. I think within a few days I was a proud supporter and requesting my own ;)

I was lurking on this forum for info on a benchmade knife, when I stumbled upon the knife makers section. I went through every maker and liked the JK knives the most. The simplicity of the designs and materials, the reasonable prices, the custom offering, and the straightforward approach of the maker peaked my interest...what has kept me here is the quality, something that can only really be appreciated when you hold one of the knives in your hand.

I was trading some knives on the Exchange, and someone offered me a choice of small fixed blades as part of a bigger trade. Something about that Kentucky Fieldmate caught my eye, and then I started coming to the JK forum. The people on the forum were/are welcoming and friendly; we are also very loyal to John, his knives and it feels much like an extended family to me. Presently I own two: the JK Kentucky Fieldmate, and Hiker. There are several others that I would be interested in but presently I am not fully employed. When I clear some funds I'd like to get an EWOK (not sure if they are still made), Iris (I'm on the pass around), Tool, and a few others.

In short, this is a great place to stop by, great people, fine knives.

Believe it or not it was seeing your posts in other parts of BFC, then I started noticing your knives and I really liked the way your blades looked. The last straw seeing all the positive reviews about your blades. Ask don't have one, loose cash is hard to come by these days, the last knife I bought was the traditional forum knife and my wife and daughter saved the nickels and find for that.

Some day I'll get one of your fixed blades, I do have one of your tin knives for the Altoid tins and it actually gets used quite a bit, I put ivory scales on it that I reclaimed from a piano. :)

I think I was hanging out at "another" makers subforum, and getting frustrated with the lack of timely production and new stuff coming out, so I checked out who else was getting a lot of action in the knifemaker section.

I never left...

I saw a post with a JK Kephart. I thought it was the most beautiful knife I had ever seen. I'm still waiting on the funds to purchase one however. My tin knife will have to do for now.

Started looking at custom blades, your Hudson Bay just jumped out at me! Still think that pattern is one beautiful blade!

I fired up Google Images, looking for a Canadian belt knife with a handle I could use comfortably. The pics of the one you made for Tahts-a-dats-ago really stood out to me and I ordered one. It wasn't until about 2 1/2- 3 years later that I stumbles across your forum here on Bladeforums.
