I usually take a few knives to camp. I'm always wanting to take an extra knife or two to try out and see how they perform. Got a buck(deer) a week ago and as is usually the case, it's cold, dark, and I'm tired and ready to get the deer processed so I can eat supper and don't have time to experiment and it never fails, I grab a 110 because I've done enough deer with them to know I can get one done quick and without any hassles. This year I've been using a plain 2012 110 I picked up at Walmart when it was new, easily sharpened compared to my fancier stuff.
Yes a folder can get messy. I got my deer last Monday evening. Didn't get around to cleaning it, hunted all day Tuesday(planned to clean it if we got another deer), drove home, slept, then went to Thanksgiving dinners on Wed, Thurs. long story short, the knife sat covered in blood and hair for nearly a week in a plastic baggie in the ice chest before I got around to cleaning it, but it only took about 5 minutes under the sink in soap and water and a couple of swipes to touch it up and it looked like new. I don't usually abuse a knife, but at camp, it was cold and the only place to clean it was about a 5 mile 4 wheeler ride to the creek so it waited.
I have been eyeing those 101 Bucks, a fixed blade version of a 110. But one thing that get overlooked with a fixed blade is if it is real cold, I'm usually wearing coveralls or insulated overalls and no belt, the 110 works great in a hunting coat pocket
