I've seen lots of the gear soldiers use, even the SEALs and other special forces guys. I've seen an occasional RAT/ESEE, Busse, etc...but I'm not aware of the military actually buying them...moreso individual soldiers.

So which blades that Busse makes does the military use?

Thanks

Good question, but Busse is pretty hush-hush about their military contracts. It will be interesting if you get any concrete answers.......

The only reason I ask is because I have either friends or family in pretty much every branch and have known people from privates to 4 star Generals...NONE have ever talked about Busse's. I'm not exactly calling BS here. But I'm just curious, function-wise, which model they would pick. It's ok if the branch or particular unit is not revealed. Again, the model is what I'm curious about.

Thanks

Well I have a Scrap Yard Scrappr 6 that I bought a while back on the secondary market . It's "sterile" , it has no name or makers mark on it . Being new then I asked about this on the Scrap Yard forum . Dan himself told me that when they make knives for the military they do not put any markings on them , so my knife was from military over run . I have seen "sterile" knives mentioned a few times before , so I know there are a few knives that have been made available to the military . Not much help I know , but that's all I got .

So the Scrapper 6...ok...now we're getting somewhere. What other "sterile" models have been seen?

Thanks

Well....I don't think there is any secret that the "Taliwacker" was ... ;)

511 MO was also sterile...:D

The reason may be that when a specific U.S. or U.S. allied military unit places the order that model may be specifically designed by or for that unit based. Also, these specific knives either have the unit's logo on them or are sterile and so they may not recognizable by anyone not familiar with Busse(kin) knives.

Certain knives (or standard models in certain combos) sold to us as military overruns would be:

Ruck
Terror Monkey line (?)
SRKW Rat Mini Mojo and M6 recurve Uncle Rat Mojo (EH3) (corrected knife model)
Dumpster Mutt serrated
Modifed ASH-1 (3B2)
Meaner Street & Active Duty
SOUL 1/ SOUL 2
ST-56
Tank Buster trailing point
Sus Scrofa
Air Rescue knife (ARK)
Nuclear Air Rescue knife (NARK)(?)
BATAC

...and probably many more I can't think of at the moment. It is rare that we get any hint as to what units in what U.S. or U.S. allied Nations' militaries that these were created for, or even for what purpose, but they are out there serving with the men & women who bravely serve their countries.

Awesome info there Jaxx. I have not heard of most of those models but I'm sure the search function will be my friend here.

Thanks!

dont' forget the Team Gemini OD G10 on sage, I think the MO versions were about two knob creeks ago, also had a sterile Hell razor. and of coarse the infamous SJTAC "embrace the Suck" model

Man, how could I forget about the ETS SJTAC??? That was such a cool thing Jerry did for recondo4u and his team...

Most of you are familiar with Recondo4u's team in Afghanistan and some of the great sacrifices that they continue to make for our country and the extra lengths that they have gone to in order to help so many folks over there.

Many of you contributed to Recondo4u when he tried to sell his Busse blade in order to obtain the much needed funds to rebuild the roof of a devastated family in Afghanistan. . . . Your contributions made it possible for Steve to be able to keep his Busse blade and still be able to accomplish his team's goal of getting a new roof on the house of the family that they were trying to help!. . . .

Very cool HOGs!!!!!!

Many of you didn't get the chance to pitch in and most who did still wanted to help some more. . .

Well, we think we've found a great way for you guys to contribute and to score some pretty cool INFI at the same time!!!

We will be offering a VERY Limited mil overrun of a very special tan on tan "Embrace The Suck" Satin Jack TAC this Saturday evening (4-5-08) between 9:00pm and 10:00pm eastern. (Sheaths not included) . . .These are the same knives that we gave to PSD Team Delta!!!

We will be donating a portion of each blade sold to Recondo4u's team to use as they see fit for humanitarian efforts and hopefully for some much needed beer!!!!. . :D. . .

So, belly up HOGs. . . this is your chance to score some very rare military INFI and to buy some Real American Heroes an ice cold one!!!!

Pricing and ordering details will be posted sometime prior to Saturday. . .

Thanks for your service PSD Team Delta. . . . This INFI is for you!!!

Jerry :D

Don't forget Jerry's early years spent at gun & knife shows near military bases. The Desert Storm fighters from the 80's went "for $225.00 unless you were military, police, or rescue personnel in which case the price was $135.00."

I know it's a long shot to hope to have one made, but after ai get my DCBJ, this is the knife I'd love to get next.

Looks like a larger version of the Boss Jack with a longer blade for reach.

Thanks

The DSF, Terror Monkey version and DSSF might also be good modern options.

Enjoy the DCBJ!

I was under the impression that the Gulf War started with the invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 and Desert Storm didn't get underway until January 1991. If Jerry was selling "Desert Storm fighters" at military bases in the 80s, did they name the war after Jerry's knife?:p

I would venture a guess that some soldiers use them, yet the vast majority of troops that I have questioned have never even heard of the Busse brand. Most of the guys in the sandbox said they had multi-tools from Gerber, some CS offerings and other cheaper, somewhat off the wall brands. A few had TOPS, SOG and Ontario products.

SOUL 1/ SOUL 2

first rule of the non existent knife club is..............;)

I may or may not have made a bunch of sheaths for nothing ;)

I have made a bunch of sheaths for bunches of Busse's that have never been on the forum, and for a bunch that have.

The military does use ton's of Busse's

do unit commanders buy them ? I would say maybe. ;)

The small but deadly Shiva Rex I seem to remember being a military overrun, I could be wrong though.
