Hello everyone!

I have been directed to this sub forum a couple times now and I am finally here.

I am looking for a knife that will meet these specs:

-A2 or 01 or similar blade steel (I guess that INFI stuff)
-full tang
-6 to 8 inch blade ( prefer 7 )
-convex ground
-big handle for big hands
-no recurves - no tanto
-does not have to be pretty
-high quality fit and finish where it counts

Price: 0-400$

I say untility/fighting meaning to me, a tough knife that is balanced well and would be useful in both situations.

I seem to have trouble finding more than just cool pics of Busse knives. I went to the collector site but found no specs.

I think I like the hell razor and have found others, but am unsure of the specs.

I have also been recommended the fusion steel heart I think.

Any info on knives that fit the above requirements is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that looks!

Kevin

Ok. I found the specs at the collector site. That is what I have been looking for.

Everything but grind type.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry about my ignorance.

I'm pretty sure the Hell Razor is convex ground. I could be wrong. My Mud Razor is at home.

You could also look at a Steel Heart-E. Usually (always???) asymetric but convex nonetheless.

Might be a bit more than $400. I hate the look but love the handle feel. I'm not a fan of the fat "magnum" scales on the "Special Forces" handle the Hell Razor has. I find them too lumpy.

Lastly, you might grab a user Fusion Steel Heart as well. I LOVE the Fusion handle. Esp. in magnums. Very hand-filling. Again, probably a few more dollars than $400.

EDIT - also a Basic-7 might be good. Handle not VERY hand-filling, but I like it. Probably in the $300 range. I've got a Basic-9 and a Basic-5. I love both of them. Respirene-C handle. Tacky and comfy versus Micarta and 100x more durable and lasting than Kraton-B.

Well I narrowed it down to what I already thought:

Hell Razor and Fusion Steel Heart

Leaning towards the Fusion Steel Heart

If you could find a mag handled satin jack. I prefer the satin jack to the hell razor because it's a little more compact, and has a higher grind at the same thickness. If you want it extra beefy, you could try to find a HOGlesjtac, wich is the .220 thick version instead of 3/16.

I'm trying to find a way to carry my standard satin jack while wearing a black under-t-shirt and a pair of dickies (my work clothes) without it being noticable or uncomfortable...

Don't get me wrong- my fusion Steel Heart is one of my all-time favorite knives, and I would heartily recommend one- but there is no way I would see it as a fighting knife unless you are one large and very strong individual!

I think the Hell Razor or Satin Jack Tac would suit your stated purpose pretty well (then you'll be infected with the Busse bug and can get the the FSH next!)

When you say convex grind you mean the edge or the primary blade grind?

I believe the HOGSJTAC is a full height convex grind with around a 6'' blade. That's a very sweet blade. The Mud Razor I BELIEVE is saber ground if you look at how the grind starts after the blood groove (from what I can remember). In the last Ganzaa a clip point SHSH came out that would be a great blade for either of your purposes too.

Probably from what you say the best deal right now would be on a 5'' BAT or a 6'' SJT (mole man).

A good thicker knife would be a Heavy Heart FSH user. It's got a saber grind.

Hell Razor is convex ground. Well balanced and it's blade length is 7". Very good knife - like all Busses. I also think Fusion Steel Heart might be a bit too large and too heavy to be a fighter. I'd go with Satin Jack Tac or Hell Razor. Both of them are 3/16" thick (although my HR seems to be a bit thicker...).

I am by no means small or out of shape, but I see your point. Thanks!

I do not know a whole lot about grinds. What I like the most so far are the grinds on my Bark river and Randall knives.

I think that is a convex grind with zero edge?

Anyhow, that is what I am looking for.

Thanks!
